if we take out the players we have on loan this season we are left almost without a team we do need to somehow add some meat to the flesh, and as i see it these 4 are just the start of it.
We would certainly have a team. If you don't sign the four aforementioned players along with Motta and Rinaudo, we'd be left with this side at our disposal (including the hypothetical signings of Pastore and Sanchez, along with bringing back Giovinco):
Chiellini
Grosso
Barzagli
Bonucci
Grygera
De Ceglie
Sorensen
Melo
Sissoko
Brazzo
Marchisio
Martinez
Krasic
Giovinco
Pastore
Iaquinta
Del Piero
Toni
Sanchez
Buffon
Sorensen - Bonucci - Chiellini - DC
Melo - Marchisio
Krasic - Pastore - Sanchez
Toni
Just with those two signings alone we become a better team. Considering we are probably going to sign a couple other players besides the aforementioned loan option players, guys like Beck and Bastos, we might be able to make this work. Sign Beck or another RB and an LB instead of Bastos, bring back Ekdal and Giovinco, and we'd have a vast improvement over this year, IMO. This is in spite of the weak group of forwards above.
One could throw out Sanchez or Pastore and sign another world class player instead for another position, like Mascherano, and we'd still have a better side than we do now, in my view.
This route isn't the exact route I'd take though. I'd probably sign Matri or Quag and Aquilani and try to sell the leftover deadweight to raise cash. But signing all four of them along with Pepe is simply wasting too much capital for their ability.
