In short it says that we might loan Adebayor for one season from City.
Tevez looks to be the starter and with the signing of Balotelli, a starting place looks even more difficult for Adebayor now..
We also showed interest in Lukaku, but a deal for him looks difficult with teams like Chelsea and Real also chasing him.

Yeah, my mistake, that is an option. That is the actual worry, but then the market moves more later on. It's uncomfortable for us.
I don't understand why he would say Giovinco is a very promising talent who needs a season to mature, then allow an inferior club have the option to just take half of his contract on the cheap. Silly.

We also showed interest in Lukaku, but a deal for him looks difficult with teams like Chelsea and Real also chasing him.
TMW said we might have an option for him for next summer because he's a smart kid and wants to stay in Belgium.

Just a few things here:

- we are loaning Pepe, and I also believe he will show his worth. If you are expecting Garrincha, then maybe I can see where you are coming from.
- we loaned Tiago for €0.5m.
- letting players leave for a payoff also saves us on wages, it would cost us more to keep them. Look around the market, nothing is happening, especially for ageing players on high salaries.
- we sold half of Giovinco.
- you don't know that the board contemplated a €16m offer for Diego, that's just what the media are saying.
- you don't know what players we are considering buying, and how could you possibly know, from the media?
- inability to finalise deals? Does that mean if you don't throw money at every deal then that is a failure? We are not Real Madrid.

I agree on the Martinez signing, seems uneccessary right now especially for the price, but we haven't even seen him to judge. I am also worried about the lack of central midfielders, but also can't believe that Marotta doesn't have someone lined up for the fourth spot.
When I talk about his inablility to finalise deal its not an issue of lack of funds, in fact I'm finding it difficult to think of players that Marotta has been bullied out of signing by wealthier clubs. The players he's been unable to sign are Krasic, the few left back options he's followed and Elia who are all below 15m. Krasic and CSKA have already agreed to a deal what on earth is stopping him? His first excuse was needing to sell Poulsen, now what?

The guy has done nothing even mildly impressive.

:agree:

-Martinez played plenty of games on the wing. Pepe has cost next to nothing. Both players provide depth to a system that we need to play under Del Neri. We have no wingers, we need them to play in Del Neri's system, we do not have a bottomless pit on money.
-The reason he is going after Krasic/Elia players is that we need more wingers as we currently only have 4 and one of them (Camo) is leaving.
-Poulsen is 30 years old, we need money, he is on high wages. £5.5 is not a bad deal, lets see who we get in before the window ends.
-I agree with you on the selling of players though.

But like I said there is plenty of time in the window left, most business goes through in the last week anyway, so there is no need to panic.......YET.
- Martinez has played on the wing, doesn't mean its the position which you'd pay 12m euros for him to play in.
- They provide depth yes, but to what? We don't have adequate starting wingers in our team in the first place.
- I have absolutely no problem with going after Krasic and Elia. I've been awaiting their signings for far too long now.
- Poulsen was a well handled deal, doesn't mean Marotta picked the right player to cash in on. Now we have a CM shortage to work on next mercato.

According to one of the most unreliable sources, 4-4-2, tomorrow is our last attempt (I have no idea when was our first) for Trémoulinas.

They want 13 while we're ready to "offer" 8-11mln
If he's really available in that price range, we need to :donedeal: that shit, and solve this LB problem for the long term.

Anyway, I won't be getting my hopes up...

Martinez and Pepe provide depth to the adequate starting wingers that we could sign within the next couple of weeks, during the rest of the Mercato.

We will probably sign a centre-mid within before the end of the window.

Like I said before, there is still plenty of time, there is no point panicing when we may well resolve the very issues that you are panicing about.

Yeah that may be so but how is it logical to sign the backups of players you're hoping to sign in the future :shifty:.

We don't actually have that much time, we're dealing with Marotta here. The man negotiates at a snails pace and he's got under two weeks.

We're going about this all wrong. Signing a CM will just stretch our budget even more, and that means buying average players. We should be signing 2-3 worthy players each mercato and accumilate quality over a number of years. After all, wasn't this recovery process supposed to take a number of seasons anyway? Desperately rushing to cover every problematic spot within one mercato with a small to medium sized budget is just asking not to improve to the drastic mesures we're aspiring to.

Absolutely.

Good moves:

- Bringing back Lanzafame
- Motta
- Bonucci
- Storari
(although that is questionable seeing as he never offloaded Manninger and I thought that was why we bought him in the first place, so now we have two excellent back up keepers which isn't much use to us).

Bad moves:

- buying Martinez for 12m
- Pepe
- Offloading Tiago for only 500k
- Paying Camoranesi to leave for more then we sold Tiago for FFS
- Offloading Ekdal and Poulsen creating CM shortages.
- Selling Giovinco for 3 million
- Not selling Brazzo, Grosso, Zebina, Gygera.
- Even contemplating the 16 million euro bid for Diego.
- Wasting time considering buying players even more mediocre then Pepe and Martinez
- Inability to finalise deals for Krasic (should have been easy), Elia or Bastos.
- More time wasting on Agnelli's wet dream, Dzeko which was clearly not going to happen as Wolfsburg had told us several times.
.
I think he has done well to strengthen the squad depth for a new formation. Well that was right up until he sold our CMs. He should have kept Ekdal/Marrone, Pepe is not as bad as everyone is saying, but also not great...enough to get the job done, Giovinco should have stayed for LM (backup at least), the Bonucci/Motta/Storari/Lanzafame are all fine moves.

Just because they aren't "World Beaters" yet doesn't mean they are bad moves and no reason for people to be sour puss's just yet.

 while I respect that fact about making a team rather than buying one, it would still be nice to get a player that is more highly regarded. The biggest stinker we've pulled was well over paying for Martinez, I expect a lot of him from his price tag.

Well we got Ibra on the last day. Let's see what Marotta pulls off these next two weeks, if nothing comes then on Sept. 1st then everyone is free to complain.:coffee:
