I don't see much difference, plus Ozil looks more like a playmaker, a second striker is different. Either way, he can't have an €8m release clause, Real Madrid have just had a bid rejected and they could match that in a second if they wanted.

He kinda played as a floating second striker in the WC, and he did very well there. His off the ball movement in the final third is better than Diego's, he can score goals better, he has a better shot and is an all round better finisher than Diego is. I think he would be perfect for the second striker role.

Yet Diego often played behind the striker and had a far, far better scoring record at Werder Bremen than Ozil has. Or are you just basing your opinion of Ozil from the World Cup?

Ozil was playing as the left sided central midfielder of a diamond midfield when Diego was at Werder. No surprises that his goalscoring record wouldn't be so catchy playing so deep.
Lets get Mikey Bradley as our 4th spot CM. He wouldn't be too expensive and is another box to box midfielder that we like. Wouldn't be too bad as cover for Marchisio.
