Atletico want cut-price Tiago
Thursday 1 April, 2010
There may be problems in Atletico Madrid’s proposed signing of Tiago Mendes on a permanent basis from Juventus.

The Spanish club netted the Portuguese on loan in January with the option to buy outright for €8.5m in the summer.

Although the capital giants want to keep a hold of the midfielder, who has quickly settled in La Liga, they want him at a cut price.

However, Juventus are unwilling to lower their valuation given that they paid significantly more than that for him in the first place.

Tiago arrived from Lyon in the summer of 2007 for a massive €13m, a fee that he has had trouble living up to in Turin.

The former Chelsea player seems willing to end his Italian nightmare though after admitting as much last week.

“Atletico Madrid is a special club and I don’t want to go back to Italy,” said the Portuguese international.

“However, I still have two years left on my contract with Juventus and I can’t decide on what will happen.”

Benzema -> Milan :scared:
We may not want to cut Tiago's price :scared:

and selling Camo would be a mistake as we don`t have many wingers and Camo is a quality one altough he is injury prone we should keep him
He is probably the most underated player in the forum
Yep, but we only see his brilliance 3 or 4 times a season. We should just buy a replacement.

Roma and Juve duel over Barzagli
Thursday 1 April, 2010
Roma and Juve are battling it out to sign Wolfsburg centre-back Andrea Barzagli this summer, according to several reports in the Italian media.

The 28-year-old was a member of the Italy squad that won the World Cup in 2006.

He left Palermo for Germany two years ago and helped Wolfsburg win their first ever Bundesliga title last season.

Juventus are in the market for a centre-back this summer, as they are not expected to extend Fabio Cannavaro's existing deal.

Roma are monitoring that situation and may well swoop for Cannavaro if he becomes available, but in the meantime they are working under the impression that Barzagli is their No 1 target.

The Giallorossi are apparently looking to sell Philippe Mexes this summer in a bid to raise funds and strengthen the squad in other areas.

They value the Frenchman at around €15m, almost double the asking price being touted for Barzagli.

Fiorentina are also in the mix, although they remember how Barzagli rejected the chance to join them in 2008.

Juve plan Lyon raid
Thursday 1 April, 2010
Juventus are planning on raiding Lyon this summer with Michel Bastos and Jeremy Toulalan in their sights.

The Bianconeri's vice-general manager Roberto Bettega was at the Gerland on Tuesday to watch Lyon's Champions League quarter-final against Bordeaux.

Bettega is widely thought of as being in charge of Juventus's reconstruction plans and Tuttosport understands that he has identified Bastos as the long-term heir to Pavel Nedved, who retired last season.

Juventus have lacked any sort of presence on the wings this year and Bastos' ability to play at full-back and further up the flanks makes him especially attractive.

However, as Tuttosport acknowledges, any transfer for Bastos will be tough to pull off as Lyon paid Lille €18m for his signature last summer.

Juventus' search for a midfield playmaker in the Andrea Pirlo mould has also led them to Lyon where Toulalan is widely regarded as the best in that position.

The 26-year-old has been with Lyon for four years and might now be looking for a new challenge after winning Le Championnat on two occasions.

Oh boy.

Since Roma are interested in Canna, why not leave Barzagli out of the equation and give them Canna and a bag of coins for Mexes? :D

Toulalan is such a classy DM i rate him highly, but Gourcuff really made a monkey of him for Bordeaux's goal
So to prevent that uncomfortable experience from happening again you sign them both.

How much do you think they would go for on the market, Fred?

Well Lyon paid 18m for Bastos last summer so we'd have to drop a pretty penny on him.

Still I would like him here. Can play either flank from the back all the way up to the front.

Toulalan will not go for anything under 30M since its Aulas we're talking about. As for Gourcuff, i'm not sure he wants to leave next summer anyway. He probably wants to stay at Bordeaux and Bordeaux want to keep him. So he's unrealistic for any team imo.
