So far they don't seem to be willing to offer him a new contract. Don't forget they are still under Sensi so money is always the issue. I wouldn't be surprised if they sold him and get a replacement for 5mln. They did good before too, but they always kept selling their good players and risking with new ones.
Im not saying they wont, im just saying that if they do sell him he wont go for cheap.

With Mexes, we'd get a quality defender in his best years. We'd be set in CB for 3-4
With Bonucci and Ranocchia we'd get talent.. but they might not perform. So it's at gamble on talent. Mexes is a gamble on ijuries.

I'd go for Mexes and then we'd have 3 years until we need a change. We could use ariaudo as 3rd choice and slowly give him a chance. Otherwise i'd go for Kjaer instead of Bonucci and Ranocchia. Seems more consistent, as he has performed for 1.5 season now...

Mexes is overrated, but 12 million is a good price for him and is less of a gamble than Ranocchia. Plus, he would go nicely with Chiellini. His distribution is  He just needs to cut down on his brain farts and be consistent to be considered a top notch defender.

Mexes has his flaws and inconsistencies, but for 12m and when the options are likes of Bonnucci and unknown gambles or possibly mediocre ones, it would be obvious upgrade to get him (would prefer Kjaer of those mentionned, but the others not so much).

Btw, I really would have liked to have signed Rannocchia, decent talent, but HUGE he isnt, heard be mentionned a while back, bit weird to read honestly.
