If he wasn't Italian, Gamberini.

I was a big fan of Zapata, but then he got lenghty injuries and was out of form for a while. He recently got back his spot and is captain of Udinese. I wonder how he's doing now.

Ivanovic would be great. Sokratis from Genoa looks promising but he doesn't always start.

Based on what?

Because he's arrogant? I know many Juventini don't want to see him because of duels with Pavel.

If it's not that then I dunno what. His tackles are good, sliding even better.
It has NOTHING do with playing for Roma, duels with Pavel or whatever arrogance you mean. Though he is hotheaded as HELL, and that ofcourse effects his game.

Last season he sucked BALLS, I seen his very error prone and headless chicken style defending since the start of his career, but he has just regressed further and further IMO. He is "good", but extremely inconsistent, he can go from decent to disastrous in the same game. Highlight example is too many (France NT chance a year ago, plays qualifiers against some minnow team, gets to starts, scores own goal and huge blunder for the other, utterly clownish performance), but anyone remember Roma's CL games against Arsenal last season? Mexes had one of the worst performances I ever seen a defender have. 90mins straight, and thats not uncommon for him, even in lesser degree then that.

His approach to defending can be pretty damn brainless and hotheaded (quite more talented version of Caceres type of "defending"). I watched Roma alot last 3 years, and the moments he has let them down has been quite prevalent. He was benched by Burdisso earlier this season for a bit, and there was a good reason for it, Ranieri got tired of some of Mexes errors costing them in the first 2 games.

I watched Roma a lot as well but I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here.

It's not a player I see, dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for review though.

Well this has nothing to do with you, I said this about Mexes throughout the years, mainly to Romanista (or many who overhype him due to outdated hype and reputation), several who agree with me. And his flaws is obvious if you watch him regurarly (hotheaded as heck with red cards, or decisionmaking), despite the defending tools he has.

There is a very good reason Roma fans are willing instead of in protest mode, to sell Mexes to get funds for other buys (Same with France fans, first they were protesting Domenech benchs him, but he got to play more, they couldnt wait to get him off). Replacing Mexes for them wont be hard. There hasnt be ANY difference between when Burdisso plays and Mexes, so that should say enough.

I'm not saying I would say no if we dont have better options and the price is right. But you should know Mexes the player in overall. Instead of just assume critique agianst him is due to some unimportant duels with Pavel.

Oh c'mon now ffs, there's no difference between Mexes and Burdisso now?

He is hotheaded but I wouldn't say that much. People always criticize him but I've never seen anyone praise his great games.

They want to sign some South American as his replacement. It's a typical Sensi move, let them be excited, they will cry later.

No, there is a difference between them in talent and skill. But this season when playing for Roma, there HASNT been (and to be honest, Burdisso done well for them), when Mexes was benched for him or just injured, Burdisso could easily fill in and do aswell. The star of that defence is Mr Glass Juan.

And believe me, there has been plently of praise, its the praise of years ago that is blinding people to notice his clownish side. He had a real top season like 3 seasons ago. But mainly his reputation is based on the "futue top D" hype that he got when Roma signed him, and many still judge him when they dont watch him regurarly.

Especially EPL fans I know, they somehow think he is a Top D and never seen his errors. Thats why the Arsenal CL game was such a funny example. They thought it was rival biasm when I told them he makes too many errors at times. Then saw the game and said its one of the worst defending they seen in a while (he gave 8 of 10 balls to Arsenal attackers).

Yago's back apparently. Lanza close, Parma want DC's ½ or Mirante(not sure if full ownership). The guy is half hours and Palermo and make demands. Great! A loan yeah but ½ a player or full ownership? Talking about Almiron and Ekdal also.
