Ranocchia hopes to play for Juve Thursday 19 November, 2009

Bari starlet Andrea Ranocchia would love to play alongside Fabio Cannavaro and Gigi Buffon at Juventus.
The 21-year-old has been a revelation this season, marshalling a backline that has conceded fewer goals than any other in Serie A in 2009-10.
Ranocchia is currently on loan from Genoa, but interest in his services has grown, so much so that Inter and Juventus are expected to battle it out for his signature in the summer.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Ranocchia said: “I saw little of Ferrara as a player even when I watched the old games with my former boss Antonio Conte. But, having heard him speak of Ferrara, I know that Ciro was an implacable man-marker.
“As for Cannavaro and Buffon, it's obvious that it would be wonderful to play with them. It's already a great satisfaction just to play against them. The 2006 World Cup is a fantastic memory. I watched the final at home with my friends. There were 30 of us. It was an unforgettable night.”
Asked if he ever thinks about going to next summer's World Cup, Ranocchia replied: “I don't, it's still six months away. For now, I am doing well, but anything can happen. We'll see.
“I have to say that I have found it easier to play in Serie A than in the lower divisions, even if the opponents are stronger because I have matured and improved with respect to the last few years, but also because there is more organisation; you run less but better.
“Alessandro Nesta has been my idol and my model since I became a defender. He is the strongest of all. I have also got to know him and even just from speaking with him for a few minutes he seems to be an exceptional person,” Ranocchia concluded.
