Laursen is so Danish it's amazing! He's right that professional footballers treat people like shit. Even in the lowere divisions, back when I played, the players never talked to "the help", never lowered themselves to that. It's really sad that people are like that, but most get over it wooner or later, and many remain humble. Very few, however, get sick about it like Laursen. I mean, it never bothered me that much...

Well, I suppose that you are right that my sterotype could be applied to all Scandinavians, but I find that the Danes I know go ou tof their way to be common folk. For instance, a friend of mine at work who specializes in Scandinavian languages, he make 120.000 euros a year, but he lives in studio and drives a vespa. HE gives all his money to a charity that helps people in rural Denmark when their farms get foreclosed on or there is a drought...Scandinavians are nice, but the Danish I know are nice to extremes.
Ok. We have/had this rule in Denmark (not like an actual law or anything) called "Janteloven" stating that you must not think you're better than anyone else, you can't brag and so on... But it's old and the danish don't really think like that anymore, but many think we do, cuz that's the impression we left our fellow europeans with.
When visiting other countries or greeting foreigners here, we are of course polite... and why not? It doesn't mean we're this bunch of hippies using socialism like a religion. It doesn't mean that we're the only ones who would get upset when treated like shit.

I'm really surprised that you would sterotype us like that after meeting just a few danes. You probably have this image of 5 million danes making lots of money but driving lada's and living in dumpters, just cuz we're humble... narh....
You should have a look at my brother. He makes lots of money and he just throws it around like thrash. In this year alone he went through 3 cars! And not just any cars.. BMW's. That's like the total opposite of what you described.

Oh, I'm sorry Kalle, I made a mistake. I think I made it sound like a bad thing or something. I really find it very nice and quaint that even some of the Danish do things like that. It's so refreshing after having to deal with Americans...

That's not necessarily true .. I used to have the Milan Channel and Inter Channel and they used to show their daily trainings .. the players seemed to joke with each other every noe and then and alsoshare laughs, even the coach of the respective teams (Carlo, Cuper) sometimes do funny things to share a laugh .. maybe Laursen is just frustrated with him not playing as much as he used to, because he didn't complain of anything before .. But let's be honest, players who receive 70,000+ per week are ought to be feeling the 'star' status and it's only normal ..
However, people like Inzaghi, Seedorf and Maldini have all participated in humanitarian projects like the UNICEF and many other organizations .. the Juve project with the Galsini hospital is also a nice thing .. there were many 'firendly' matches played in order to raise money for earthquake victims and as such .. Zidane have set-up a school in Algeria to help people there .. J. Zanetti is taking care of many poor children in Argentina and there are endless examples in the world of football ..
