I never got the "Wow, kids are so damn hilarious when we pretend they talk like adults" comedy crutch. Probably why all those TV commercials with babies CGIed to talk like adults creep me out.

From my perspective, they read like someone thinks, "Lets take photos of kids and make them say adult things to be funny. That's always a good gag." It's predictably contrived and has thousands of rubber-stamped duplicate jokes all over social media. Zero creativity means the element of surprise is lost, and for me the element of surprise -- of at least a joke that hasn't been told before -- is critical for comedy.

I ask more of my comics than to blatantly copy thousands of others.
