But I think what Dylan is trying to do, is make us carry these thoughts into our own world, and choose for ourselves. Should we take the front seat, or the back seat? Do you see YOUR friends?

This could really be a song about a young man in the lower-middle class during his last weekend as a civilian just before being drafted to go to Vietnam. Honestly if I heard this before the actual song, I would think that.
