explain me why is that?...my example is: romania ain't qualified so if dp will be picked i will cheer for the azzuri, if not brazil. I'm i a moron?
Doesn't matter if your country doesn't qualify. You have no right to support a nation you are not a part of. Supporting a nation just because yours isn't in the cup is sheer gloryhunting.

glory hunting is if i will go out the streets (like i did in 08 for spain...that's only because i was drunk with a buddy of mine) and then use it as an argument against i donno who. Oh and not cheering for romania but only for that squad. If i enjoy the beautiful football produced by brazil, why i don't have the right to support them? This doesn't make sense imo..

Can I support the underdogs? And everyone who is playing against England? As for WC, I will be supporting the home country, I so hope that African's will win it, it would certainly funt to watch them win on home turf, though I highly doubt they will.

My father is partly Italian
And I live in Serbia

In my country football is not at all popular and we're like FIFA rank 132. But I enjoy football and if a team i like plays i'll definitely support it.

Wow. There is so much drama on these forums. The banning of members, religious issues and random feuds like this. Perhaps you guys have forgotten you're men??? Because you're behaving like the girls on The Hills !!!
Except Fred

He's just a sweet 11 year old boy who watches "The Hills"

You can't "support" them because that means following them as a fan and cheering them on all the time. You can "hope" that Italy gets beat by the USA, but you can't really support them.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to see the big dogs crash out, but if you start referring to a team like the Azzurri as "us", that's what one calls insanity.

Serbia. That's pretty easy.

Why do you have to support it? If you really do enjoy football, you'll watch it as a neutral.

If you have no ties to the country you support, like Brazil, then you're just a gloryhunter, full stop.

I saw "Projection Thread" and thought this was going to be about senators who rally against gay marriage and then get caught with male prostitutes.

I agree with you on this one, especialy with "us" part.

Though I think I can say support, but this support is not economical, but marely emotianal, I send happy thoughts to the underdogs and teams who play against England without any intention of calling myself "us" with that team.

You can 'lend' your support to anything you want to, it doesn't invalidate your feelings re: other things you support.

If England are playing I will support their adversary. You can't be impartial when observing a competitive sport, you can say you are but you'll always favor one side, supporting there drive to emerge victorious.

Wanting England to lose is much different than "supporting" the Azzurri throughout the World Cup. That's where it becomes problematic if you're not Italian.

So you're saying that in theory I could support a team in every match the play by virtue of my footballing prejudices but not for the whole tournament?

Don't get me wrong, italiens=gay.
