Portuguese Beach in general has very rough seas compared with most of the rocky California coast around here.
Which sucks, though, because omitting these details makes me distrust future stories where people report police abuse.
Surfers have to either get small craft to take them out (it's about a mile offshore where the waves break) -- or paddle out. Man, I'd be exhausted just going into that current before trying to get on one of those waves...

The local newspaper didn't report the details either, Greg. Not even the high surf advisory.
So if you hold one source to one set of standards, but throw those out the window for another source, that's what we call hypocritical.
I know Prison Planet is a funky name, and I don't trust everything from that website, but their articles have citations within them that check out. They get the news from the AP, Reuters, et cetera, and report on them as such. The Mumbai attack article I posted checks out on the AP site. But alas, this site is laughed at because it's not CNN or FIX News.
Reminds me of how Peter Schiff is always laughed off despite being right, or even censored by the glorious CNN.

Well, the local paper wrote "rescue operation would have to be done from the air and sea, not from shore", which is precisely code for high seas advisory unless, say, you're on a cliff-edge. Not to mention the rogue wave reference.
