They should destroy any team they face. Its just rediculous. They should have sent UConn or Duke to Athens, as they would probably do better. :groan:

I watched Tennis recently, and Taylor Dent of US beaten by Rodriguez after a tight rubber set.....damn! 16-14:wallbang:

Waldner just lost the semifinal against some corean guy. Pretty good play from J-O but the Coreans speed was crucial. I really hope Waldner gets to end his career with a medal tomorrow.

well not really. they dont have major stars, like most other teams do. its not serie c. its like monaco in the champions league.

right now they are european champions, and they got bronze in all three olympiads where we participated after gaining our independence in 1990

As an American, its hard to say but I find myself rooting against the USA basketball team this year (not that I really care all that much). A horribly constructed team with very unlikeable players. They desereve to lose so maybe next Olympics the federation will send a team, not a bunch of selfish allstars. It is an embrassment, Team USA went 68 years before it lost 2 games and this team has lost 2 out of 4 this year.

Yeah, and for that reason the NBA isn't appealing to me. College Basketball is worth watching, not the likes of Allen "I'm a money gangsta" Iverson. :rolleyes:

I agree and the real sad part is Iverson has the most heart of anyone on the team and is one of the easier players too root for.

What they ought to do is either build a team with outside shooters, point gaurds who are unselfish and pass the ball, forwards and centers who rebound and play defense, guys who are role players. There is only one basketball and you only need so many guys on a team who can score. I think the team would be so much better off with 3 all-stars who average 23 points per game and a couple of role players rather then having 5 all-stars who average 23 ppg. That isn't how team sports work. It would be like making a national team in football where all 11 players were forwards. There is more to any sport then simply scoring.

My other idea, which would have been great this year, is take the Detroit Pistons, take Mehmet Okur off the team because he is a foreginer and replace him with Tim Duncan. There is your olympic team and I am sure they would win gold.

:LOL: That was my idea as well. Just take my Pistons to Athens. See, the Pistons have team chemistry, as well as a good understanding of each other. They also have the work ethic to do everything possible for the good of the team, not just the player. Something this "Dream Team" :)rolleyes:) lacks, desperatly.
