Here there be some excellent posts :agree:

Buffon
Grygera Metzelder Kovac Salihamidzic
Camoranesi Zanetti Nedved Ribery
Klose Del Piero

I would've splashed the cash on Ribery and Klose and attempted to land Metzelder for free. To me, it sounds the wisest. We need world class players. I'm sure we can reach the CL with a starting 11 like this! Also, I would've attempted to pick up a couple of decent squad players (not sure who, yet). Giannichedda should stay for another year. Waiting in the wings would be players like Chiellini, Balzaretti, Criscito, Paro and Bojinov - ready when called upon.

Edit: So yes, I would sign Bojinov

@Jem83, still there are two points:

    1) I prefer to sideline Kovac in favour of Criscito or Cannavaro, who may join us in the summer.

    2) Salihamdizic plays on the right side only.

But the rest of the squad is decent and I like it. ;)

Salihamidzic has played at left back for Bayern and is "considered a left winger in his national team" according to Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure I've seen him running up and down the left flank before

Okay, thanks for the information guys.
Np my friend. I'm very happy with the Salihamidzic signing. He'll take care of a huge problem for us next season. And the fact that he has played with Kovac before can only be a good thing. Kovac is a very decent defender if you ask me. Pair him up with a guy like Metzelder and I think we'll have as good a backline as any team in Serie-A.

I have to give it up to the board for signing Salihamidzic

    A reassuring transfer.

As for Barzagli, I'm not yet convinced to be honest. I have doubts whether or not we should opt for this player.

Hmmm. If I was Juventus Sports Chief what would I do...

    Our roster as of now:

    GK: BUFFON
    GK: MIRANTE

    CB: KOVAC
    CB: BOUMSONG
    CB: LEGROTTAGLIE
    CB: BIRINDELLI
    CB: PICCOLO

    SB: CHIELLINI
    SB: ZEBINA
    SB: GRYGERA
    SB: BALZARETTI
    SB: BARTOLUCCI

    CMF: PARO
    CMF: ZANETTI
    CMF: GIANNICHEDDA
    CMF: MARCHISIO

    SMF: CAMORANESI
    SMF: NEDVED
    SMF: MARCHIONNI
    SMF: SALIHAMSDZIC
    SMF: DE CEGLIE

    SS: DEL PIERO
    SS: PALLADINO

    CF: TREZEGUET
    CF: ZALAYETA
    CF: BOJINOV

The first consideration to me would be securing players I think are key to the teams future success.

BUFFON is the first person and the most important player I would try to keep. I would pay him what he wants and do everything to make sure he stays at Juventus.

TREZEGUET I would make a fair offer and tell him to take it or leave it. He has not shown great support for our club in the recent turmoil and a true member of the family always sticks with you even when your down. Unless his words were taken out of context, I don't beleive he will accept the fair offer.

CAMORANESI is a player that I would make a little more than fair offer to. I would put in a decent effort to keep him here because I think he is great on that right wing. However, if he wants to leave I wouldn't fight with him. I would let him walk if he really wanted. He is a great player, but we can't keep anyone against their will.

ZEBINA would get a modest offer. Take it or leave it. With Grygera's arrival he would be a backup and I don't think he would want that. I think a backup RB would be perfect for him, but I think he would reject that offer.

The next step would be players I would like to sell or even dump:

LEGROTTAGLIE if anyone wanted to buy him I would sell, sell, sell.

GIANNICHEDDA is an option to bring in a small chuck of change. He may not even be as valuable for us to sell him as it would be for us to keep him as a backup.

Then I would decide which players to loan out. Mostly youngster who I tihnk would benefit from more playing time on another squad that helping secure some depth.

    PICCOLO
    BARTOLUCCI
    MARCHISIO
    DE CEGLIE

Now the fun stuff. Who would I bring in.

    Defense:

The single most important player to bring in next season is BARZAGLI. He would fit into the team like a glove and represents the Juventus way. BARZAGLI is the future of Italian defending and that is exactly the player that should be with us.

METZELDER is a free transfer and has very good physical attributes. I think he would play very well next to Barzagli in central defense.

CRISCITO would be an easy transfer and would be used as depth only.

    Midfield:

I will start with the sides because I think that if we can keep camoranesi than we will be pretty stout.

With Camo on the right and Nedved on the left, Salihamdzic and Marchionni backing them up I think it is a very solid line up. The problem here is if Camo leaves because it will force us to start one of our bench players here. Sali is perfect coming off of the bench because he is so versatile. Even having him warm up on the sidelines could cause the opposing manager to question what we might do and where he may play. Eventually we will need depth outside and some say the RIBERY may be an option, but I don't think that this is an area where we should indulge just yet.

Our problems are in the central defense where we have a bright young talent in PARO, but he possibly isn't ready to be in charge of the midfield in serie a yet. EMERSON has hinted that he may come back and as nice as that would be to put a player like him next to Paro, I just don't think he would be worth the price. Zanetti is pretty good in the center, but not good enough to cover for the likes of Paro. Getting a player like Sissoko (injury prone), Mavuba (proven?), or Alou Diarra (tough enough?) would be the way to go. I think that we need a strong tackling, physical defensive midfielder to compensate for the finess tactical style of Paro.

I beleive Paro is the future of the CMF, but will need a very good player next to him. As it stands we have a rotation of Zanetti, Paro and Giannichedda in central mid and we need a savvy veteran like Gilberto or Emerson, or a really good youngster like the previously mentioned three.

At forward many people are talking about replacing Trezeguet. I beleive it will be tough to replace him because he fit our style so well and I believe he is making a mistake leaving, but he wants out so be it. I actually think our biggest problem will be finding a player to share time with Del Piero. Palladino isn't ready for that role yet and would be a player I would bring on only to get time in a lopsided game.

Perhaps keeping Bojinov would be beneficial. I am not sure how good he is at playmaking, but he is dangerous with the ball and has immense potential. I don't want to see him go.

I guess my point is that we can have any CF we want, but if DP goes down, or gets tired from the game to game grind in Serie A, then we have no comparable solution for filling the huge hole he leaves behind. We need a trequarista as it is a vital part of our team. I love Cassano's potential and don't want to get slammed for mentioning his name, but he is the only player in my mind that has the technique, playmaking skill, big game ability and superstar quality that could compliment Del Piero adequately. Cassano will be available and I know all about his attitude problems, but if he is sharing playing time with DP I don't think he will be a problem.

Now we move to CF where we have a big gap to fill in the wake of Trez's journey away from us. Who do we have on the current squad to fill his shoes? No one. My favorite option here would be Luca TONI. There are mixed feelings about him, but the bottom line is that the man scores the most goals in the toughest league to score goals year after year. He was a HUGE part of the azzurris succes and is a high profile, complete, inside the box CF. Toni and Del Piero is almost too much for other teams to handle.

PIZZARO is supposedly coming to us and he is a good player to bring off of the bench behind Toni and even start a few games, but couldn't be a full-time number one. As far as some other names that pop up on the board... Saviola (not coming, would be nice but too small for CF), Klose (good, but no Toni), Zigic (is not ready yet to be a true #1 striker in serie a), Gomez (not a #1), Kanoute (not even good enough to come off the bench in my opinion), and Huntelaar (who I think would struggle at Juve, and is also not a true #1). The only other option that I have heard people relate to a move to Juve would be Amauri. He has a lot of skill and can put the ball into the net. I would love to see him in the Juve shirt, but would prefer Toni to him.

So after I have done all this I would line them up in the typical Lippi style 4-4-1-1

    BUFFON
    GRYGERA - BARZAGLI - KOVAC - CHIELLINI
    CAMORANESI - DIARRA - PARO - NEDVED
    TONI - DEL PIERO

    On the bench would be
    MIRANTE
    BOUMSONG
    METZELDER
    BALZARETTI
    CRISCITO
    ZANETTI
    GIANNICHEDDA
    SALIHAMDZIC
    MARCHIONNI
    PALLADINO
    BOJINOV
    PIZARRO

    with

    PICCOLO
    BIRINDELLI
    ZALAYETA

on a game to game basis

That is my take on it, what do you guys think... what would you do?
    Why did you ignore Belardi??
Don't you know we already brought Criscito back??
    Where the hell is Urbano??:D

We can search for a free side midfielder, Ljunberg would be on a free agents by the summer. There is a point here as well, even Diarra, Mavuba and Sissoko can't help us solving the problem of lackness of midfieldis creativity, as all of them are defensive midfielders. I think that any of them maybe a proper backup to Zanetti or a replacement of Zanetti. Thus buying Ljunberg, a cheap defensive midfielder and a world class winger like Ribery would solve all our midfield's problems.

Also, I agree with you about moving Nedved to the centre especially in the presence of versatile side backs but the point here is the age factor. So, the fairest solution is buying a promising centre midfield like Gilberto Silva.
    Nice post

Ljunberg sounds like a good player to pick up because of the quality for the price. However, I have my doubts that he will be a true central midfielder. It seems he prefers to play along the sides. He would be a good pickup and I am now a supporter of the move. But, I think he would be better suited along the side. Picking up Diarra, Mavuba or Sissoko wouldn't help us solve the problem. But, would give us a nice mix of players until we get to the Jan 08 transfer period.

Ribery would be a great left winger and would be an excellent pickup, but I value the presence of Barzagli and a top notch striker more at this point. If Toni seems too far out of the picture, and Amauri isn't a feasible option I would assume that my next choice would be to indulge on a great winger like Ribery.

I think that Barzagli is not and option, so big money should be spent there. Metzelder should be bought as well because his price will never be so good. I beleive we will pick up Pizzaro, so mabye spending the money on the mid-field would be best.

    MID-FIELD BULK UP

    BUFFON
    GRYGERA - BARZAGLI - KOVAC - CHIELLINI
    CAMORANESI - ZANETTI - NEDVED - RIBERY
    PIZZARO - DEL PIERO

    FORWARD BULK UP

    BUFFON
    GRYGERA - BARZAGLI - KOVAC - CHIELLINI
    CAMORANESI - ZANETTI - NEDVED - SALIHAMDZIC
    TONI - DEL PIERO

I am torn between the two. Ribery is young and would stay a long time. He seems loyal to his club and would be loyal to ours. Nedved is no permanent solution anywhere so moving him in the center in favor of bringing Ribery on the left seems the best. I have faith in Paro and think he may be a great player for us one day, but his time is yet to come.

    What do you guys think?

Me as well. I always rate him as being highly motivated and a hard worker player. Did you watch the second half of Bayern vs Madrid? Salih was superb. I know that both Kovac and Metzelder are very decent defenders but the point here is that both are injury prone. Hence, you can't depend on them for an entire season. Having Criscito is great, but I prefer to land at least one extra defender.

    Cheers Jem. :pint:

I think Amauri is a great player and I would accept him as a signing if we couldn't get Toni. I have a lot of confidence in Amauri. As for Defense, we need Barzagli. No one defends like an Italian. My opinion is that Barzagli and Metzelder would be an amazing, dominating CB duo. Kovac is a very good backup.
