McFADDEN v BOUMSONG


JAMES McFADDEN had a tough task on his own against the former Rangers defender.

Jean-Alain Boumsong had clearly been told about Faddy's threat beforehand as he constantly had his arms all over the young Scot.

On the half hour McFadden lost his cool when he decked the Frenchman with a crunching tackle that he saw yellow for. It might have been a sign of frustration as the Juventus star looked a class act in defence.

Time and again he had the measure of McFadden and looked very composed on the ball. Faddy tried his best when he had the ball at his feet but too often his tricks were just not coming off for him.

But he played one superb pass to Ferguson that brought a corner in the first half.

Whenever Boumsong got free, McFadden was clicking at his heels but his distribution was excellent. Faddy did get away from the Frenchman early in the second half and could have struck for Scotland.

Boumsong was clearly irritated at this and claimed McFadden had tugged his shirt.

The Frenchman didn't get it all his own way in the second half and showed his frustration with a tough tackle on Faddy that he was lucky not to receive a booking for.

Boumsong looked relieved when McFadden made way for Gary O'Connor in 72 minutes knowing that Faddy had given him a game.

Thats a liitle surprise for me that Boumsong played in the starting 11 of the France, who has he replaced?

I know that Gallas is injured, but Boumsong is like a 4th choice as a CD.

he replaced Gallas in the back. He beat Squillici who stayed on the bench , as well as Givet i think.

Boumsong enjoys Juventus challenge


PARIS (Reuters) - France defender Jean-Alain Boumsong believes he has made the right choice by leaving Newcastle United and the Premier League to join Juventus in Serie B.

"I don't have the impression that I'm playing in Serie B," said Boumsong. "I'm playing for Juve. I'm at a great club. I've been offered a medium-term challenge and I have the feeling that it will not slow down my progress.

"Juve's place is not in Serie B and you don't say 'no' to Juve:toast: ,", the 26-year-old Frenchman told French sports daily L'Equipe in an interview on Tuesday.

"There's a season of purgatory to go through but after that, there could be some very good years," added Boumsong, who suggested he had a clause in his contract in case Juventus did not make it back to Serie A next season.

"You can imagine that I'm not looking forward to playing two years in Serie B," he said umpkin: umpkin:

Boumsong, who had a hard time with the fans and media last season said he felt he did not always get a fair treatment.

"I think that criticism of me is excessive," Boumsong said. "It sounds like I do more bad things than good ones. When I'm good, nobody talks about it. When I make blunders, it sounds like that's all I ever do.

"Unfortunately, that's maybe the way my career will go. I don't think it's fair but I've learnt how to deal with it.

"I was the target of the English press when I was playing for Newcastle last season," he added

"It was relentless and stupid. All right, I'm no Beckenbauer but with time I've figured out what I can do and what I can't."

I seriously don't think that this guy loves Juve.He simply wants to re-build his reputation after his bad seasons in an easier(for him) championship than Premier League and after that he will ask to leave if a CL team wants to buy him

If that's the case then sell him for twice or more than what we bought from Newcastle.

Still it is a BIG commitment to play for a club which is in Serie B...he could've joined a average club like Everton or Charlton...but he chose Juve...and he is a class defender...we just give him a hard time coz the 1st time we saw him he made a huge error in the match against Rimini

exactly,i dont know if hes for the long term or not. But we will decide that when see his performances in serie A, as well as his attitude towards the club.

I would certainly pick Thuram, Gallas, Mexes and Givet over him. But he must be good if that arrogant @#^%$ Domenech calls him up even if he plays in Serie B.

am guessing he has a problem with Mexes thats why Boumsong is getting the call up.But he must have Domench's faith for getting the call up and for starting instead of Gallas ahead og Givet.

he's not good enough for the serie A imo.he should be sold when we get back into the serie A,with someone like barzagli replacing him.
