if he wasnt injured, he'd be there, and he would have added to his WC tally:agree:
vieri WAS worldclass, but these days i think he is more interested in screwing supermodels than playing football, he doesnt have the heart or the desire.....

iaquinta is just useless and cap should've thought of getting a small forward, who could bet a better choice than vincenzo.

formation i think lippi would start with :

-------------------------gigi---------------------------------------

----grosso------------nesta-----------canna---------------zambro-------

-------------camo-------------pirlo---------------gattuso-------------

-------------------toti------------------------------------------

---------toni--------------gila----------------------------

goodluck to italy

If I aint mistaken, Grosso isnt a right full back but a left one, so if he plays, Zambro will have 2 go to the right.
For some reason, I've never really paid much attention 2 Zaccardo. Can anyone give me an informed analysis on him please ?

I think he would just be in the way of others who are better than him. I think Lippi will start with DP and Toni or Gilardino and Toni. Vieri from the bench adds nothing, however Pippo is a player when you put him on the pitch at anytime during the game, he can bring you a goal in a moment of craziness.

I wouldn't want Gila to start ahead of Dp. Not because of Dp or something, but their recent display talks by itself. Dp is by mile performing better than Gila.

Do you want to know my scenario? This is how I see things happening.

Lippi's first game will start with Totti behing Gilardino and Toni. In this same game, either Totti or Gilardino will leave the space for DP. From that moment on, DP will start either upfront with Toni and Totti behind them or behind Toni and Gilardino.

Don't you love Del Piero's versatility?

Thats exactly how I can see Italy's first game again Ghana. Dp on the bench and one of Totti or Gila replaced by Dp.

Ofcoarse I do love Dp's versatility.

thats best case scenario stephan but lippi openly shows his admiration for totti, but i imagine if DP does start he'll make very single Juventino proud & outshine some of his striking counterparts.

well thats the tricky one, he needs to get form BUT its a world cup game after all, and its very important for italy to start well, totti should first train more. Its gona be a high level game so totti might get injured again imo.
