to be honest i found it weird from lippi to say that, even if he was just joking. i mean he always has had hair and i dont think he would cut it, unless he knows his gona be bald soon anyway as his hair is coming down or something :D, though it doesnt look like he has problems with that yet. so thats basicly says something as, he says: i will cut my hair, and in his mind he already knows it wont happen anyway. especially if he said it now, in the situation when key players are injured and it doesnt look so good for italy.

seems like lippi is not confident.

So you're not gonna sleep tonight because of Lippi's hair?
no the point is that this shows as lippi doesnt show enough confidence and have it, if his joking about his hair and cutting it.

If we don't count chemiotheraphy and some diseases like psoriasis or some fungous diseases, there is just one other way for someone to lose his hair(without shaving it) and that is androgenetic alopecia-the most usual case(which starts from 16 or 17 years of age and it finishes around 35 years).
Lippi is almost 60 which meens that his hear is just fine.;)

No, these flags in my avatar are just flags that mean something to me but I want Holland to win because I will be in Holland during the last week of the World Cup. Otherwise, may the best team (except for Brasil) win.

Oh yeah,I remember that you talked to Erik about it!Holland, hmmmm they are in the thoughest group ,if you ask me.

And,why not Brasil?I meen I don't want them to win, because it is really boring to watch them winning another WC,but why don't you want to see them winning it?

I read today in a local newspaper that Lippi is considering dropping both DP and totti out of the first 11. Instead he would use a new formation with proper flanks/wings.

Lippi shuffles his pack
Friday 9 june

Marcello Lippi fielded Alex Del Piero behind Pippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino in tonight’s test, as the Azzurri appeal to the fans.

With growing reports that Francesco Totti is set to earn a starting spot against Ghana on Monday, the Coach left every door open with a 4-3-3 system in the run-out alongside a local youth team at the MSV Stadium in Duisburg.

Cristian Zaccardo, Andrea Barzagli, Fabio Cannavaro and Fabio Grosso made up the defence, while Mauro Camoranesi, Simone Barone and Andrea Pirlo completed the midfield.

They won the game 5-1. Pirlo opened the scoring from a free kick, Zaccardo met a cross from the left and Gilardino converted Del Piero’s assist.

After the break, the second line-up netted through Vincenzo Iaquinta’s brace of right-foot efforts, including a fine volley. Grund scored for Duisburg’s Under-19 outfit following Marco Amelia’s error.

There has been controversy in Italy’s Duisburg base, as some fans were angry that the players were escorted out of the airport by German security forces and then kept inside the hotel for several hours to discuss the new refereeing rules. The squad eventually emerged to sign autographs.

In a bid to clear the air, Azzurri captain Cannavaro picked up the microphone in the stadium ahead of tonight’s match.

“The fans are crucial for Italy, especially those who live abroad,” said the defender. “We hope to give you many happy memories. On behalf of the entire squad, I’d like to thank you for the warm welcome. You mean a lot to us, especially as there are so many Italians in Germany. Thanks to everyone and Forza Italia.”

Lippi also pointed out that there was no split between the fans and the team, even though there were some insulting chants during that long wait, mainly alluding to the Calciopoli scandal.

“I don’t think the supporters were angry with us,” insisted the Coach. “As for the training, some of it was open to the public on Thursday and on Friday we set up a game in the stadium. These aren’t the actions of a side trying to hide from its fans.”

Italy 5-1 Duisburg Under-19
Scorers: Pirlo 5, Zaccardo 15, Gilardino 36, Iaquinta 51, 66, Grund 60
Italy first half: Buffon; Zaccardo, Barzagli, Materazzi, Grosso; Camoranesi, Pirlo, Barone; Gilardino, Inzaghi, Del Piero
Italy second half: Amelia; Oddo, Barzagli, Cannavaro, Bonera; De Rossi, Barone, Perrotta; Totti; Toni, Iaquinta
