Zac: 'I believe in Bianconeri'
Sunday 31 January, 2010
Alberto Zaccheroni insists he has faith in this Juventus and doesn't mind accepting a four-month contract.
“I have a contract, the club was very clear, we are working until June and will try to get as many results as possible. Then we'll see.
“That is fine with me. If someone stronger than me arrives, then good for Juventus. There is the chance to win here and a squad of great quality. After Milan, Inter and Lazio there are few clubs that can put you in this position.
“For a Coach who always likes to play to win, I know here I have that opportunity. A tactician who stayed at home for nearly three years, he cannot let this chance pass him by.
“I consider this a recognition for having resisted the economic offers from foreign clubs for so long.”
Zac's debut was a 1-1 home draw with Lazio that allows Juve to catch Palermo in fifth place.
“We cannot suddenly start competing with Inter, but the other sides have ups and downs too, so we can get back into the Champions League places. That would be a victory for us.
“This team has great quality and from now on you'll see the side improve. Tonight you saw a team that put in the effort, the rest will follow with time. I believe in the squad.”
However, he was critical of tonight's performance at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.
“More than anything else I think about the mistakes we made, what was missing both when we were in possession and without.
“It was crucial that we took the initiative and had many more chances, but I saw too much haste and in some cases the desire to do too much worked against them.
“There is a lot of anger in this squad and I saw them upset after the final whistle. They want to make up for this difficult moment so much that they become confused and less effective.”
The injury crisis has not helped and that could deteriorate further, as Momo Sissoko will be suspended for the next round.
“There are some limitations. Today we had few midfielders at our disposal and you win games in that area of the pitch. If you have difficulty in moving the ball around in the middle of the park, you've less chance of getting a result.
“We need to improve in every area. We lacked depth, almost totally, as we always tried to play ball to feet with short passes and ran into traffic.
“The strikers played a little too close together and I think at times Diego needs to go wide where he can find more space.”

Good analysis by Zac, He seems to be looking at the bigger picture, which Ferrara never did. I think there was a definite improvement on recent performances and its a step in the right direction.
