Calcio: Serie A: Roma
Roma: Cassano, nuovo litigio con Delneri 31/10/2004 22:06.27
Cassano new fight with Del Neri

Il giocatore punito con la sostituzione nell`intervallo
Player punished with substitution at half time

I'm with Andy on the Cassano-Gila debate. Of course I'd never take Cassano if I knew he was going to behave the way he's currently doing, but I'm quite confident that the environemtnat Juve will calm him down a bit and he can start playing football

I dunno, maybe Gilardino is a better choice :) or we sell DP and Trez to buy both Gila and Cassano, the future attacking force of Italy :p Just kidding. One of them is enough :p and we cant get rid of a legend like DEL PIERO :)
At this moment, I hope Gilardino joins..

i dnt think juve need to risk taking somebody like cassano. his temperament is questionable and if capello could not control him at roma how can he now. I dont think we need gilardino either as he is to good to be our 4th striker and zalayetas is th only position going

gilardino has a period of bad form,it will be interesting to see if he can sort it out.

casssano is undoubtedly the bigger talent of course, but his temperament is suspect and consistency dodgy.

my take on this?either we wait to see who fares better or better yet get someone else altogether.its not as if any of these two are gonna be cheap anyway, there's no shortage of youngsters on the market.

But thats the thing. Capello was able to control him in the latter stages of his time at Roma. That behavior also followed Cassano to the Euros that same summer. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Totti.

what your base on saying Capello was able to control him in the latter stages of his time at Roma? Did he behave sportingly when subbed? Did he obey all Capello's tactical commands and restrictions?

exactly, it was because capello could not control him that he has turned out this way, if he was looked after better he would have less of an attitude now, bringing him to juve would affect the team spirit at the club as he would be given priveleges in order to curb his temperament and hope he dont go off on one, i doubt other professionals would like this

Ok, soeme of you say that Capello can control Cassano, maybe, but theres something that you guys are missing, Capello will not be at Juve for ever, I think he will stay with us for 2 years at the most, then he will go to manage a national team, he said that he wants to do that after his spell with Juve... so what will happen when Capello is gone?

i don't think control would be the right word.we've seen a fair bit of crap from him even during capello's tenure.
That was early in the season, not in the latter stages.

What evidence do you have to differ? I'm not sure if you remember last season, but his behavior was fairly good from last March on through the summer.

You guys need to brush aside your hate for Roma for a second. The Capital club is that secure of an enviornment. Five coaches in a few months is not something to create stability, and with Sensi as the head of the operation anything can happen. Juventus is more stable, without these static transactions and leaders is charge who can actually take charge. Even the Captain of Roma is hardly a good influence. That formula for disaster is not in place in Turin.

Bravo to Del Neri for benching Cassano for their CL match today. Their CL campaign is pretty much lost anyway, but he's got to establish some level of discipline in the team (ironically, this was the reason FC Porto supposedly dismissed Del Neri not long ago).

Capello is one of the few coaches who have proven they can have a constructive love/hate relationship that managing a Cassano requires. Without Capello, having Cassano on our squad would be a liability ... a disaster. Could you imagine him with Lippi??

Sorry -- Zlatan is one primadonna striker enough for our squad to handle.
