Why would he leave Harden and fairly good rockets tho? Most other better teams dont even need a PG (except Spurs).

Was watching Butlers Wolves press conference, besides being hilarious about giving out his cell phone nr on tv and saying he is an open book, ask me anything anytime, he also pretty much said he is talking to his Allstar friends actively to convince them to come to Wolves. Closest name they mention in media is Kyle Lowry right now.
Unless they add another piece I don't see them being better than the cavs or golden state.
Spurs would've been a great choice.

Tanner Ainge @acmilan

Yeah, leave it to idiot politicians to give you proper advice - if income tax was so important, the Jazz are still gonna lose Hayward to Miami, instead of Boston :sergio:

This son of a bitch can pass a ball through a moving SUV
You are setting yourself up for disappointment, Serge. Will be tough putting the pieces back together if this one goes wrong :depressed

I don't think this pick is going to go wrong. He will never be a 20 ppg scorer, but this kid could easily average 15 apg early in his career. And he is a much better shooter than given credit for. Which is why I can't quite understand the Kidd comparisons. Jason Kidd didn't develop a jump shot until the middle of his career.

PG to OKC for Olidipo and Sabonis.

This, my friends, is called a rental

Was Ainge in the bathroom when this trade happened?

What this looks like to me is everyone is convinced that he is going to the Lakers next year

Rumor had it Indy had asked for Nets pick and LA pick for PG, which was never gonna happen.

PG and Westbrook at OKC may be a dry run for how they'd play together at Lakers next year.

Probably. If Celtics thought they had a realistic chance of extending PG, they could/would have put together a package that would have gotten them PG. Maybe not the Nets pick but say Crowder + Cletics own 1st and maybe the Grizzlies 1st or whatever.

Ok...............................

But are you going to try to tell me that the Celtics couldn't put together a package of players/picks better than what OKC gave them?

Indiana didn't even get a draft pick in this deal.

Ainge dropped the ball on this.

Honestly, I think the Lakers offer of Randle and the 27 and 28 is better than what they just got.

Why would Hayward come to Boston now? At least with him and PG , the gap would have closed on Cleveland.

And I would be giving Ainge the benefit of the doubt with the draft picks, if he were actually good at drafting.

FWIW - Celtics had offered 3 1st rounders + two starters, one of whom was Crowder.

Indiana took pennies on the dollar just so he wouldn't get his wish to go to LA

Celtics apparently could have and likley did offer more than what Indy got from OKC but for one reason or another, Indy went with that trade.

Celts weren't gonna include any likely/potential lottery picks in that trade. If Indy tried to play hard-ball, they ultimately got played here because whatever the Cs offered would have been more valuable to Indy down the road than the garbage they got from OKC.

If that supposed offer from the Cs was indeed true, and it sounds close to what Ainge would have offered for PG under these circumstances, then the Pacers scrwed themselves by not taking it and going with OKC, instead.
That's just stupid and I can't fault Ainge for not giving up any potential lottery picks for a 1-year rental.

However, that still leaves Boston with a boatload of draft picks. Draft picks that may not make the team if he keeps them all.

I mean, if Indiana turned Boston down because it is the same conference.
