In some pigeon brains the word "gay" or "homosexual" is still an insult.

At least make it more logical and warn that post for "Derailing threads where there is serious discussion going on". Posts like the warned one can be found in numbers here every single hour.

Alen, first of all, in looking into this, I agree that I think Rab basically treated you harshly here. Inappropriately so even. That much should not be tolerated. So thanks to Dusan for reversing things.

But to the point I was making, just about any word can be used as an insult given context. History is littered with people who felt offended at being called negroes, then blacks, then coloreds, then whatever the term of the day might be. It's not the words themselves... it's always the context. So I disagree with you that the word "gay" could never be used in an insulting manner.
