You know what pisses me off? The sheer intolerance regarding those who want to have a better life in another country, specifically in this case the United States. But those on the right-wing want to demonize such people as if they are trying to harm their new nation. As people need to move from country to country to find a sustainable income and life for themselves and their family, they seemingly always have a problem with assimilation, which I find to be a result of intolerance by others. Being a citizen of a nation of immigrants, I find this strange. Personally, I always try to meet new people no matter where they are from.

However, there also seems to be some resentment in the minds of immigrants. From what I've seen in a few individuals, they are not completely happy with the fact they have had to emigrate. Of course it's understandable that emigration is quite the painstaking process, but will they ever be happy with their life in a new surrounding? Why would they not want to at least try to assimilate?

This is sort of a paradox. But it goes hand in hand with one reoccurring theme in philosophy... that one person will never understand the thoughts of another.

I'd like to hear the views of people who have had to live through a similar situation.

A lot depends on when you immigarte as well.

a 6 year old won't have trouble adapting into a new culture, while a 50 year old man who lived all his life in one country, will have a harder time adapting, especially if he gets culture shock.

But that 6 year-old grows up in the presence of his father who brought him to whatever country they emigrated to. Therefore, the 6 year-old follows in the footsteps of his father, and doesn't become assimilated.

this statement is true, for some cases.

most often, what happens is the child learns to balance and appreciate both cultures.

I'm not sure if that is the case. I don't really see it from those I have met.

You want to talk about black people? How much time you got buddy? Where will I start? Well first of all, they're lazy good for nothing tricksters, crack smoking swindlers, big butt having wide nosing breathing all the white mans air, they eat up all the chicken they think they're the best dancers and they stink, did I mention that before?

Matter of fact, my friend Jasper told me one of them coons came by his house to pick up his sister for a date, he said "look here nigger, that there is my girl! anyone's gonna have sex with my sister its gonna be me!'
