if i were to choose i would not go for olic, but there is one thing i must add.

lately i was watching bundesliga and someone did an amazing dribble + goal ... and when they zoomed in closer i saw it was olic. i could not believe it, but if he has those lucky moments for us too, he could be our next zalayeta !

since we all agree that we do not need more firepower in the striker-department, getting olic for free might be ok. if you give me the choice no new striker or olic, then i'll go for olic ... with injury crisis more likely to happen with the proceeding age of alex and david it is really ok.

this is not what i am talking about, but look ... he did even pull off an reverse elastico lol

Olic is one hell of a runner and could as well fit in 433. and if Ranieri thinks Gio is Nedved replacement than we are left with only one SS, who is 34 years old, so i don`t see why we shouldn`t try to get another if he is for free.

HSV is and should be the peak of Olic's career. He's simply not good enough to play in Juventus. All our current strikers are absolutelly better in every possible way than Olic. He would be a downgrade no matter how you put it. For free I'd take him only to be our 5th striker.

Olic on his way to Juve? Thursday 4 December, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus will sign Croatian forward Ivica Olic at the end of the season, according to the German Press.

The Old Lady are expected to strengthen their squad in 2009 to try and challenge Inter's supremacy in Serie A.

A number of names have been tipped to relocate to Turin and the latest is Hamburg star Olic.

The 29-year-old's contract expires next summer and he will be available on a free transfer.

According to German newspaper Kicker, Juve are ready to present a four-year contract offer, which would net Olic around £2.2m per season.

The player's agent Gordon Stipic has delayed any decision on his client's future until the winter break in Germany.

Juventus will be allowed to negotiate terms with Olic from the end of 2007.

Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks. There's no way we're thinking about him. This is his manager wanting to squeeze HSV.

Olic isn't really playing striker at HSV. He was used a lot on the left wing, last year at least, and is one of the most hard working offensive players I know. If he really signed, he is, when it comes to the workrate, a very good Nevded replacement!

Not even as a 5th striker considering his wages.

I'm not a Schweinsteiger fan at all but I'd prefer to spend the wages on him instead.Capel would be ideal.

Wash your mouth. :D

Olic is useless in attack and just as useless anywhere else on the pitch. And I don't give a crap if he's a hard-worker, he should have been a farmer if that's his biggest quality. I hate the term "hard-working attacker". That's just an excuse for a player who don't know crap.

No way.He can't even be close to Nedveds replacement.

The wages mentioned are really unrealistic. That's why I'm certain this is all bogus.

So Secco has found Del Piero's successor

This is not possible, not even our board can be that stupid, can they? Schweinsteiger for free seems like a dream signing compared to this news, not to mention Capel. Those were the players I thought of when Gigli said they'd observe the transfer free players.

It has to be BS. Atleast I hope so.

what is your description of iaquinta then?
everytime he did not do shit for us and did not score, there was this "but he did work really hard for the team" ...

15 games in the league with 6 goals and one assists is not that bad (if you consider for what team he plays) ... that is exact fourth or fifth striker quality ;)

He is simply not good enough to start and this wont happen, it MUST not happen.

But I must say, Olic is not nearly half as bad as the constantly painted to be. There is no huge difference between him and Iaquinta for example, despite however one want to pretend otherwise.

Fred, who's on your avatar? You should be banned for changing the Sagna av ;)

Iaquinta is a beast and a decent player...that can choke from time to time. But Olic is choker and just choker. You can not compare them.

Yes,it is a fourth/fifth striker quality (maybe)...and would you give him those wages?

No.
