I don't particulary want this player but I want to rate him before anyone else does.. Salvatore Bocchetti from Italian Olympic team, he plays as a CB & is a strong young fellow who's quick to react.. Signed with Genoa, he's yet to play Serie A football but nonetheless IMO he is one to look out for this year in Serie A
Bocchetti is indeed a fine player for his age,as long as I can judge that. I already saw him at the U21 Tournament in France and I liked him.He plays like a veteran despite his young age.

There's a pretty decent generation of CB's in Italy right now:Criscito,Bocchetti,Ranocchia,Coda,Canini,Tuia and so on...

:agree: I also like Andreolli. He's on loan to Roma for the upcoming season, correct?

I like Cigarini
He plays like Pirlo in U-21 team, controlling the tempo and become playmaker
Juve wants Cigarini last winter
but why when Parma relegated to Serie B, there is no Juve interest??
He can add depth to our squad as Zanetti deputy

I like him too, but this has been discussed many times and not too many people will agree with you.

Me being one of those people, I've watched him alot and I don't think he's all that good and the comparisions with Pirlo are ridicolous.. Cigarini gets the ball hangs onto for too bit and makes the wrong decision and or makes simple 5 yard passes and that's if he hasnt already lost the ball, all at a very slow work-rate as his game in general is also very slow.. Whereas we all know Pirlo's genius, Cigarini got a long way to go before they are even mentioned in the same sentence

Out of those defender's the only one I rate is Bocchetti.. Criscito is very impressive against shitty U-21 teams who aren't physical nor that talented, yet the minute he comes up against quality opposition he gets shreded and physicality hasnt got anything to do with that (E.g Giovinco drove Mimmo absolutely insane, more so than Totti did and physicality had nothing to do with that, rather a mere lack of skill)... Coda is neither here nor there, reliable but not outstanding by any means.. Canini is a bit of a Legro as he'll tend to play well for the most part of the game but lacks the concentration to keep it up the entire 90 mins which tends to lead to the "legro" mistakes.. Tuia was part of the worst Azzurrini defence possibly ever assembled at the recent U-19 european championships, their defending as a whole was dreadful..

Totally true. Too much overhype for this kid and believe me he won't cut it in juve (exatly the same situation with criscito last season)........

I think you are being way too harsh on Criscito. He is a starter for the Azzurrini while someone like Bocchetti-who you rate- is sitting on the bench.I doubt you saw Bocchetti last season when he was at Frosinone so you judged him by his Azzurrini performances, right?Correct me If I'm wrong but he must have played against the same "shitty" U21 teams as Criscito.Despite how you call all the U21 teams which played against the Azzurrini "shitty" is beyond me.Giovinco might drove him insane, that was not necessarily because of Criscito's inability but because of Giovinco's outstanding talent.
Agreed on Coda,he is pretty reliable and that's one of the best characteristics for a defender.
Before his injury,Canini was a sensational player for his age.If he manages to return to that form he will soon play in a big club's shirt.
To tell you the truth I never saw Tuia, just heard good things about him.He had a serious injury aswell but is slowly returning to his level of performance from what I've heard.BTW he wasn' at the U19 EC.

I was waiting for someone to point this out.. My answer is that yes Bocchetti has played the same shitty teams as Criscito but IMO he looks a lot more calm and has a better ability to read the game which is vital for CB (e.g. he rushes up and quite often cuts the ball off)

He may very well be totally outclassed in Serie A this year, as Criscito was last year by quality opponents such as Giovinco, Foggia and a number of other attackers, but this hasn't happened as yet and as such i'm sort of giving him the benefit of the doubt untill he proves me wrong, as did Mimmo.. I've only simply stated that "i rate him", I havent exactly gone and on about him as if he's the next Maldini so I'm not saying that Bocchetti is all that better than Mimmo, I don't have the hindsight of how we will stack up against Serie A's best, so at this point i'm merely stating that "I rate him".. Whereas I can say I don't rate Mimmo because we've all seen him this season..

Agreed upon that Canini was very impressive before injury woes, but I've watched him since then and he looked unconcentrated..

Tuia, for some reason I confused him with the young Milanese defender Darmian (Uncle Fester has said that he's great) and after having watched the entire U19 tournament looked very weak as did his partner in crime at Milan youth system Bruscagin

Canini is class, and you cant really judge Bocchetti and Criscito in different standards, even if I like Bocchetti so far (strong and on point so far, doesnt seem erratic and is mostly calm, but not really special though). What I mean is, he has just looked sound in Azzurrini level so far, he may be not enough in Serie A just like Criscito. Lets not speak too soon.

And Tuia didnt play in the recent U-19 Championship, the crap defence there was mostly Milanisti one, with Bruscagin sucking the most by far.

Let's hope they get promptly promoted to the first team at Milan :D
