Ive always been a huge fan of his,and i think he's pretty underated as a player. But he's like 24 or 25 right?A few more years down the line and he could be a fantastic replacment for Del Piero. But like you said,it isnt all that realistic. He's likely to cost a lot.
yes he's 24, and i wouldnt say he is underrated, he still hasnt proven much to be honest, but imo thats because of his injuries, because talent wise, he should be much better than he is now, he still hasnt peaked imo, and when he does, he's going to be one deadly striker.

Talking about strickers from Holland anyone agree with me that Bergkamp was more talented than Van Basten?
I don't.

Imagine what his carreer would look like when van Basten's ankles weren't made of glass.

Bergkamp was close though, talentwise. And I think van Persie can become great too. I consider him much better then Robben for example.

Ok shit.I misread the name:embarasse.

Coming to Van Basten,i think Bergkamp was a better player than him.Or to put it another way,i liked Bergkamp's style more.I was too young to see Van Basten at his peak however, which would effect my judgement.

Damn those Dutch names!

Bergkamp was an artist. But van Basten was by far the better overall striker. And he had to stop playing football before he really reached his peak, so who knows how good he may have become.

Lucio’s Italian dream

Serie A’s giants are keeping an ear to the ground after Bayern Munich defender Lucio revealed his desire to play in the peninsula.

The 29-year-old Brazilian has made 100 appearances for Bayern and has been an important figure since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2004.

However, it seems that the frosty climate of the German winter is taking its toll on the Selecao international who has previously stated that his family feel trapped by the temperature in Bavaria.

“I dream of playing in Spain or Italy and maybe I’ll realise that ambition sooner rather than later,” Lucio admitted.

“It’s almost impossible to convince Brazilian stars playing in Serie A or La Liga to move to the Bundesliga.

“It’s not to do with Bayern, but the country. In Italy and Spain, the culture, the habits and the language are much more similar to Brazil. Bayern can’t compare to that.”

Lucio turned down Juventus and Roma in 2004 before joining Die Roten and it is suspected that the two clubs will be at the front of the queue should he definitively decide to quit Germany.

I would certainly like to have him on the team.

last sunday in 'studio voetbal' they called van persie the best dutch player of his generation
You see Salman, this is why i dont think RVP is underrated, if anything, i believe Arsenal fans and some of his dutch fans overrate him..its over the top to call him the best in his generation, he might be one of the most talented, but imo he hasnt proven himself more than Robben, Van Nistelrooy or Seedorf.

I think by his generatiom they mean players of similar age? So I guess its' players like Robben, VDV, and such and not older player like Seedorf and horseface.

sea dwarf = Seedorf
horseface = Ruud

:jvefan:

I don't know if Robben is more proven than Van Persie. Robben has spent alot of time on the injury table just like Van Persie. Robben might have won titles with Chelsea, but imo he was injured way too much to have a real influence over their success unlike say Lampard and Terry.

So that's why to me Van Persie gets my vote (that and Robben's antics are seriously annoying)

Agreed. RvP is also far more influential in the Dutch NT then Robben. Robben is potentially way better, but that's just potential. In the last couple of years I haven't seen any of it come out of him.

I've always wanted to ask you, why do you have Wengers pic as your avatar??
Why because I think he is the best current Coach and they way he brought soccer to Arsenal making arsenal the best club to play football..I love they way they play..And i do adore their youth players every year they come up with fantastic players like ex. Nicklas Bendtner..

I said this before..He stated one day that he would like to coach for JUVE one day in serie A..And if he would come to Juve..He would do great with the club he would have a great partnership with Trez and hopefully bring MR.VP

Van Persie has probaly the best strike from his left foot other then Riise...VP has great ball control..His free kicks hit top net every time and they are bullets...HE would be a great replacement for DP..
