Villarreal Want Lucho Gonzalez Villarreal are set to make a January swoop for FC Porto star Lucho Gonzalez, according to 'As’.
Villarreal Want Lucho Gonzalez

The Argentine midfielder signed for Porto in 2005 from River Plate and has since established himself as arguably the team’s key player.

Villarreal boss Manuel Pellegrini is a big admirer of the 26-year-old and is set to launch a bid in January.

Porto have set a price tag of €18m on Gonzalez’s head, a valuation that Villarreal are happy with.

'El Commandante’ will not be eligible to play in the UEFA Cup for the Yellow Submarine, as he has already featured in the Champions League this campaign.

Gonzalez’s contract with Porto expires in 2011 but he is keen to move to Villarreal due to the large South American presence in their squad.

Lucho has won 39 caps for the Argentina national team, scoring five goals, and travelled to last summer’s World Cup in Germany.

He also won a gold medal with the Argentina Under-21s at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Just a thought....but how about Pasquale Foggia ?
After what happened i don't think he'll get to play again for Cagliari and he'll get back to Lazio in January already.
Also, after his brilliant displays in the last 4 months i doubt Lazio can keep him, considering their salary-cap.
Foggia was sold to Lazio less than a year ago from Milan so i don't think Milan will pay a lot to get back the player they sold for peanuts in January.
Roma is out of the question so it leaves us and Inter (from the Italian teams)

I know we have a lot of midfielders and especially a lot MR's but with Camoranesi getting injured in every second match/training and since Sali and Marchionni don't offer much, Foggia may be the solution.
We'll get a very good player , who is only 24 and is becoming better with every next match and we might find the long-term solution for the right side of our midfield.
Of course, he should be ready to sit on the bench for a year or so because Camo is still better player than him. I'm not sure if he is ready for such sacrifice, though.
Foggia's a very decent player, but his dodgy background worries me.

Agreed. I have a feeling he'll top out as another Cassano-type player. Lots of potential, but too much of a head case and troublemaker to be a star on a big club. Expect to see him end up with one of the teams for Misfit Players... Sampdoria or Bolton.

not a fan personally, I'd take Moris Carozzieri over him. :)

We need a top class defender next season. We have enough of Criscito, Legro and Mellberg( :( ) as CB subs.
