Croatian Press: Chelsea Will Win €22m Modric Race

Reports out of Croatia indicate that Chelsea are set to win the signature of Dinamo Zagreb midfield ace Luka Modric...

According to Croatia's Nogometni Magazin, Luka Modric is set for a move from Dinamo Zagreb to none other than Chelsea in the January transfer window.

With Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan also monitoring the player, Dinamo Zagreb can essentially name their price for the 22 year old international.

And it seems that Chelsea are set not only to match that, but also Modric's financial and footballing ambitions.

The attack-minded youngster is said to be eager to join up with Avram Grant's side, the Chelsea manager having watched him in action against both England and Macedonia.

Indeed, tycoon Roman Abramovich has agreed to bankroll Chelsea's bid based on the input of the manager and the scouting staff.

Now, with the winter transfer window set to open in January, Modric may well be on the way to Stamford Bridge in just over a month - unless another bidder makes themself known.

Seriously, if he goes to Chelsea he's an idiot.

I know, I can dream, can't I? :D

If he goes to Chelsea, it'll be the mistake of his career, he should choose Arsenal over them.

anybody ever wondered if ronaldinho might just end up at juve by some miracle one day? supposedly barca are looking to sell him before his market value decreases too much. chelsea and milan were linked with him, but chelsea no longer want him because they think that his style wouldn't fit in with theirs. berlusconi said he has given up on trying, plus they don't really have anywhere to play him with seedorf, kaka, ronaldo, gila, pippo, pato.

now don't laugh, but i think that if juve were to make a serious bid for him, we could have a serious chance of getting him. as i said, this is just theoretcial, but what do you think?

he is still a top 5 player in the world, IMO. true, he doesn't beat his defenders anymore, and he's getting a lot of criticism, but i think he has been playing very well and has actually been more of a playmaker, focussing on passing more instead of individual play. and i think this is pretty much his last season at barca.

Top 5?No fu*king way...He`s not even in startng 11 in Barca/Brazil always and even if he is he can`t compare to his level two years ago.I think he`s uber over-rated player. Its still just my opinion.
