I hope we sign Barzagli as soon as possible. It would be a perfect fit for us, & alongside Criscito & Chiellini we would have the core of the azzurri defence for the next few years too. January may be too soon to go for him but if Palermo are out of contention then it may be possible. For the 1st time ever January's transfer window is a serious option for us as we have no european cup registration problems. Even last year it wasn't an option to us as promotion was far from assured & the obvious backward step. I don't know much of Ivanovic but he must surely be an improvement on what we have at the moment. I honestly don't see what Tiago brings to us, the money would def been better spent on the defence.
We need to seriously bomb some players out of our squad. Look at the defenders we currently have - how many can we rely on? Zebina, Bumnote & Legro are shocking, Chiellini is still very raw but looks more assured alongside Andrade, Criscito even more so, as Totti proved yesterday, Biri (God bless his bianconeri heart) is now a solid backup , Grygera looks a great addition, so too Andrade who looks real class before the broken kneecap.
IMO we need another CB - obv I favour Barzagli, giving us a starting IV of;
Grygera---Barzagli---Andrade---Chiellini
with Biri & Criscito as backups, & Ivanovic. 7 good defenders seems about right.
