You are only dreaming. We will remain with the same players as last year. With Molinaro, grygera and Legro we will concede 100 goals.

This is confirmed: Mancini of Roma will go to Inter and Roma will get Suazo. And we? Noone. We bought Amauri for 23m which we dont need. We should have spent that money on Deco. We will not make it to the CL. Secco, Ranieri and Blanc should be repalced if we want to be competitive.
we had the 2nd best defence in all of Italy this year, why would we concede 100 goals this time round? Have a little faith brother...what our players may lack in ability, they more than make up with their spirit and togetherness

Chiellini and Legrottaglie had an easy job due great protection and filter work by Zanetti and Sissoko(Nocerino earlier). Someone like Alonso instead of Zanetti might improve possesion, build-up and creative play, but will surely leave the central defence exposed a bit more.

Not that I agree with puzzu's implications.

We had the 2nd best defence but we finished 3rd with 15 points less than Inter. And dont forget our best players will be i year older and that will be felt for sure. That's why i dont have faith. And we dont have any creative player in the midfield. Even with Xabi. He is another Zanetti or Sissoko.

So you are happy with Molinaro, Legro and Gygera? Can you iamgine palying against Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcellona, Real Madrid etc with that defence?

Dominic: Xabi Alonso is very solid defensively. He is not a liability at all. He is not a fragile attacking player, but is a defensively sound holding midfielder.

one problem is playing those f*ckin' preliminaries and hopefully the CL so we'll have to play all our players so Chiello and Legrottaglie will need some help. Mellberg can cut it, Andrade?

I hope we play a 4-3-3 formation that can turn to a 4-4-2 at any time.

they may not be the best going round at the moment, but they still pull together and have done spectacularly well against the big teams this season....we attained 15 out of a possible 18 points against the big 3...so yes I do believe they can do the job...just recalling Grygera vs Inter in Milan and Chiellini vs Zlatan gives me further belief that it is possible on the European stage as well

He is, but not to the point that playing Xabi would make our defensive fragile considering Xabi is solid. And Momo's defensive work makes Zanetti less important then he was.

Xabi and Zanetti are very similar players. Both are the same type of DM, but aren't really workhorses/ destroyers. They sit above the defence and pass mostly laterally and spread the play. That said, Zaneeti is better defensively, while Xabi can pull of those assist that Zanetti gave Ale in the Lazio game more often.

I can`t understand why we didn`t go after him after the last world cup he was awesome back then
instead of going for him we let Inter have him and they were stupid enough to let him go

Apparently we wanted Senna.

Agent of Villarreal's Senna slams Juventus: He's better than Xabi
tribalfooball.com - June 14, 2008

The agent of Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna has slammed Juventus after they went cold over the Spain international.
Jose Manuel Butragueno told calciomercato.com: "Two months ago I spoke with (Claudio) Ranieri. The coach told me they were looking for a player of his characteristics, but today they want Xabi Alonso of Liverpool - which I find incredible.

"Senna is better than Alonso, also with Spain he is in front of him.

"I think that the fact that interest has dampened is a political issue. Juventus prefers to pay twice more for a player worse than Senna."
