according to various gurus all over the net:

Buffon, Schwarzer, Merlano(my pick)

Zebina, Grygera, Legrottaglie, Mellberg, Andrade, Chiellini, Dossena, Molinaro

Camoranesi, Salihamidzic, Sissoko, Marchisio, Aquilani, Zanetti, Nedved, xxx?

Trezeguet, Amauri, Del Piero, Iaquinta(?), Giovinco

and maybe Diego in 2009-10
Molinaro out, De Ceglie in and I'm happy. And if xxx will be Hamsik, than we have a great team, IMO.

Now that I see people mentioning about Montolivo, I would like some people to look at Daniele Dessena as well. I mean if we are to stick to 4-4-2 with a good partner for Sissoko, I would say a few whom I think would deserve a spot here in Turin in my opinion of course.

Hamsik obviously as my first choice. Montolivo who has much more to give in the future. Aquilani for his recent brilliance although I still do fear his injury proneness. A doesn't seem possible Keita (can't believe we are not linked to him) who I think is the Sevilla man and not Alves. Dessena lastly whom I think would suit us. Cigarini crossed my mind too but if we'll have Gio and Camo, Dessena would be the better choice to partner Sissoko. Then again, we also have Marchisio.

@Mark
Merlano rocks :D
Seen him play in Malaysia during the youth clubs championship and how I wish he would one day be our next Peruzzi / Buffon. Although I would like to see Mirante return instead next season.

Just curious as to why you think that?

How concrete is this Aquilani news?

Cigarini strikes me as a player like Pirlo. To be honest I've never really seen some proper defense from him. True that he adds a lot of creativity in the center. Something which Sissoko still lacks but honestly if we are playing with Gio and Camo or someone else, some wicked defense is needed in front of our middle class defenders. Cigarini likes to push up alot leaving Camo having to drop deep to cover up. It should be fine except that I'd prefer Camo to play more up front as it would be a terrible waste of his capabilities.

Dessena on the other hand is like a Beckham who could defend well and has a real nice touch on the ball. Seeing that we will be having 2 playmaker wingers, we would need someone with a great vision for long passes and Daniele would be able to provide us that. What I see in Dessena is a nice tackle from Sissoko, short pass to Dessena. A long range one from him seeking our wingers and lastly a cross to our strikers. A classic 4-4-2 that Juventus are adapted to. True, a little old school but effective.

Nothing's wrong with Cigarini really. But I was just kinda hoping for someone with better defensive skills. I wouldn't mind him here neither. I'm basing this on if Pirlo ever plays for Juve would he suit? I would think we will have to change to accommodate his style. Thus explains Cigarini if he signs for us.

It was believable until Diego was mentioned as a possibility.

Dessena is not good enough. Marchisio has been better and not even him is good enough to start but squad player. I seen alot of Parma, and believe me when I say Dessena has been dissapointing alot and benched. Cigarini is their brain and creative engine, he has performed much more then Dessena. The same Cigarini who is more equal to Marchisio, though as not complete. And Cigarini can defend a bit, he is a cm, not AM.

Actually, from what I've seen of Cigarini, he is very good at tackling. And he also has a great vision for long passes - afterall, he is Pirlo-esque. :D

Anyway, I understand what you're saying, thanks for explaining.

if giovinco plays his prefered position would be in the hole behind the strikers then needing a CM that can defend. at the same time you also want your CM to attack as well and not to sit back and spray the ball (works in certain circumtances). you also want your CM to run at players if needed. i sound like i want aqualani

Knowing ranieri's old fashion tactic 4-4-2 , i don't think there is a chance for gio to play behind strikers. He'll most likely gonna play in nedved's position as a left winger (same position that he's playing now with empoli).......
