Juve Looking At Carvalho

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho is the latest English-based player to be linked with a move to Juventus.

Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco was at Stamford Bridge last night to watch the Portuguese star in action and the Gazzetta dello Sport says that he is now readying a bid for the player.

Carvalho was brought to Chelsea from Porto in 2004 along with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho. The 29-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premiership but may be open to a move away from West London if the opportunity were to arise.

If you are to believe the Italian press, this has been a hectic last few days in England for Secco, as Juve have also been connected with moves for Carvalho’s team-mate Frank Lampard, Liverpool’s Momo Sissoko, as well as Arsenal trio William Gallas, Kolo Toure and Gilberto Silva.

Out of all these players it appears that the Frank Lampard link has the most credibility. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made it abundantly clear that he wants the Blues to play more exciting football, and Lampard is likely to be replaced in order for this to happen.

If Juve were to sign him it would be great.

Carvalho is a fantastic defender..he's got it all..aerial ability, marking, tackling and above all pace..i have to disagree with you cravelithedon..i think he is underrated..because he will always be in Terrys shadow..he was the one that kept the defence together last season when terry was injured.

I disagree on both points. IMO, he's one of the best defenders right not if not the best.

fred explained it there well...
I just don't think he is top 3 in the world. Maybe top 5, definitely top 10.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him at Juve.

The only downside I see to his game is that he is a bit prone to diving into tackles.

We will get big players only if we will qualify for CL. But what is more intresting for me is that we are linked with Lampard, Drogba, Carvalho... Does this mean something? Is Mourinho on his way to Juve? This are his players, he call Lamps when he decide to leave, he praise Drogba that he is the best attacker, he bring Carvalho from Porto.....

If Mourinho were to come to Juve, I would feel sorry for Ranieri. Since he was the guy who made way for Mourinho at Chelsea and for that to happen a second time it would be sad. Would prefer Lippi rather than Mourinho since they are both with out teams.

carvalho is way overrated and would be also overpriced.
Huh? Over rated? Carvalho is quality player, not to mention exactly what we need. I've posted often that I'd like to see Barzagli in bianconero, but Carvalho has already achieved the level we'd hope the Palermo man could reach.

:agree:

English players are always over rated, you only have to look at the price tags of Rio, SWP, Carrick & Owen Hargreaves for proof. Some good players, no doubt, but at those prices? Get real.

If Mourinho were to come to Juve, I would feel sorry for Ranieri.
So would I but Mourinho would make us better & surely we're Juve supporters, not Ranieri's fan club? CR's main problem is that he's actually too nice a guy to be Juve manager. He faces the same situation as Ancelotti. We need managers who understand everyone else in the league hates us, & use that to direct the players. A seige mentality is the hallmark of a truly great side, Manchester, us, Real Madrid, all hated in our own countries for the domination we enjoy. The same as Inter now, everyone has jumped on our bandwagon to hate them since they started winning the important trophy.

.
definetely..dont forget Bents price..no wonder Wenger doesnt buy English players..why buy Carrick for 30M when you can get Gilberto for 7..why buy Rooney for 40M when you can get Van Persie for 5..and why buy SWP for 25 when you can get Hleb for 12.
