Lilianna...
I'm going to Greece in July (Santorini, Athens and Corfu).
Is it safe to assume that most individuals in the tourist industry (hotels, restaurants, etc) speak English? Also, what is transportation like in Athens?? (Taxis $$$)
great.
i am very sure you will like the places very much!
are you going with your parents or with friends?
actually,i am sure you'll like more the 2 islands than athens.
because when you are in athens,to be able to have GREAT time you must know exactelly where to go....
be sure about that.
in greece 99% of the ppl speak even the basic english.
all greeks speak english...and especially in tourism.
ALL OF THEM!
for transportation you can use either taxi-which is a bit expensive.the starting price is 1.60 euros
buses-the ticket costs 0.45 sents but the problem is that you don't know which bus to take each time...but,you can ask!
you can use the tram.
they have just made it and in july it's gonna be in full use-or at least it SHOULD be....i have no idea about the cost of the icket but i don't think it's gonna be expensive.
and,the metro is the best.
it's extremelly easy-you just can't be lost in the athens' metro, and the ticket is not expensive either,it's 0.70 sents.
of caurse,those are for athens.
but when you will be on the siland you can also rent a car if you can afford it.

greeks might have lots of shortcomings, but there is one thing they are excellent at:they KNOW how to have fun and to live their lives!!!
