I love the godfather triology, the first and second were excellent, I was a bit disappointed with the third but with al pacino's daughter dead I was happy because it took a toll on my feelings, I was so sad.

    does that sound weird? :undecide:

i havent but really want to read,is it different from the movie??yesterday i watched Codfather1,n remind me the Godfather3.Marlon Brando,Al Pacino n Andy Garcia, godfather one come after another,i think theGodfather3's sequel is inevitable,so the Godfather3 is still a good film.

I personally think Andy Garcia spoilt the whole damn thing. He's hot and all, but don't think he fitted well :undecide:
He was actually decent as Sonny's illegitimate son...given the fact that he was as hot-headed as his character's father with the same raw intense emotion..on the other given that he had to act with Sofia Coppola he should get a damned Oscar just for keeping a straight face. Anyways part III would have been a good movie in other circumstances but given part I and II it was a poor in comparison. I heard they wanted to make one which outlines Michael's life from the Opera shooting to his death in Sicily.

Dindn't know this thread was still here :)

Anyways, the main reason why I find 3 a dissapointment is honestly becuase there was no Robert DuVall. If you think about it, his part was huge in the first two films. There should have been more original characters in the 3rd one to make it more like the previous two. However, we are just underestimating part 3. Part three was nominated for a number of Academy Awards. THat alone is a great success. But it had big shoes to fill, since p1 and 2 won academies. Thats why compared to the first two its not as good, but in general its an awsome movie, and pretty good ending to the best saga ever made.

Scarface is a really awsome movie too. I bought the Deluxe Gift Edition last summer. SOO NICE! Its a big black box with the Anniversary Edition DVD, a money clip, miniposters and the ORIGINAL scarface. THe box is very well made and kinda has a crocodile skin cover. You guys should check it out if you are DIE hard fans. You can get it from amazon if your local dvd store has non in stock. They are going for around 60 canadian, and thats a damn good deal for two GREAT dvds with lots of special features and other fun stuff.

THe godfather DVD set is also pretty good. It comes with P1,p2, and p3 and has a special disk with it too. ALl disks have commentary by FFC and other producers etc. There are also some easter eggs in the bonus disk which has a really awsome scene from the sopranos talking about the godfather dvds ;) But the one bummer about this dvd set, is that it didnt come with a small booklet or even a pamphlet and the quality of the box wasnt that great either. Also in some scenes the sound is not what it should be for the greatest movies of all time.

GOod news for all you mob fan dvd collectors. This summer, the new Goodfellas SE DVD is comming out with commentary by Martin!!!! Yes i cant wait. Thats gonna be an awsome set. ANd also if you like the Pacino, De NIro partner ship, HEAT, one of the best crime movies ever made, has a special edition comming out this summer. Just to let you know, HEAT, has the best gun combat scene i have ever seen! Watch the scene outside the bank with sorround sound, YOU WILL LOVE IT!

anyways, since were talking about mob movies, ill give my fav 5 of all time:

    Godfather 1
    Scarface
    Godfather 2
    Goodfellas
    Godfather 3

others i like include: Casino, Donnie Brasco, Heat, Carlito's Way (said to be the unnoficial sequel to Scarface)

Thank God I have this forum otherwise my insomnia would begin to be a pain the arse (seriously)

yes Tom Hagen should have been in three especially since Corleone business was trying to go legit and how better to bring it there than the lawyer Tom Hagen. He backed out because of money issues. Apparently George Hamilton's character was supposed to make up for it..whatever! Three had a real good story line with the "Immobiliari" company and the Vatican ... Michael and the family squabbles in NY which seemed petty to him...his son..his nephew and his daughter. I would have liked to have seen more characters or at least mentioned from I and II apart from Rocco the bodyguard...
Another very good mob theme movie often over-looked is "A Bronx Tale" directed by Robert De niro.
By the way Persian..what are some DVD tricks..I'm too lazy to push all the buttons to find them!
