Canna advises Juve buy Milito
Saturday 16 June, 2007

Fabio Cannavaro assures Gabriel Milito is an excellent buy for Juventus and hinted he could join him in Turin.

The new Juve are taking shape following the arrival of Coach Claudio Ranieri and Zaragoza defender Milito is ready to complete his move to Turin.

“I have faced him in person and also seen him regularly on television. I can honestly say he’s a very good defender,” explained Real Madrid man Cannavaro.

“He has an excellent left foot and is good at kick-starting moves from the back. Milito reminds me a little of Paolo Montero.”

Although the £12m transfer has not been finalised, Zaragoza Coach Victor Fernandez admits an agreement has been reached.

“From what I have heard and seen, one can figure out what the solution will be. Until I am officially informed of the conclusion, then I won’t say anything more,” noted the tactician.

Milito’s arrival pushes back reports that Cannavaro will reunite with Juventus after their return to Serie A, but the Italian isn’t outright rejecting talk of a comeback.

“I am focused only on winning La Liga. I prefer to take one issue at a time and at the moment I have other priorities,” the reigning World and European Player of the Year told ‘Tuttosport.’

“Director of sport Alessio Secco rang me, but I haven’t heard from him in a while. They have my phone number and that of my agent.”

Out of all the players that have been linked with Juve with the likes of Saviola, Hunteelar, Quaresma, VDV, Barzagli, Tiago, Mavuba and countless others. Which ones are most likely to come to Juve??

Certainty: Milito, Iaquinta
Very likely: Barzagli
Dependant on other transfers in and out: Huntelaar
The others are all 50-50, except Quaresma and Saviola which are unlikely.

Sounds like Milito is almost a done deal. Great. But it would not be the first transfer to fail through due to minor detail problems. I hope it will be official next week though.

I would not mind having Canna back. He would be cheaper than any other interesting defender (Barzagli), he is a leader, experienced and already knows the club and many players. He could start for one year and then slowly give his place to Criscito or Chiellini.
