Not a crazy man but a REALISTIC MAN...in terms of dollars and finance.

Last year Juve were booted out of the CL...did not contend for the Scudetto and had a lucklustre season ..bottom line....IN THE FINANCIAL RED.
They also did not make any big sales in terms of players meaning MONEY was not coming IN. Coupled with the fact that they signed the most expensive Coach AND midfielder in Italy money is not what it was for the boys in Torino. Add to the fact that the Agnelli family structure is re-inventing itself and the days of Gianni are gone there is no more the CARTE BLANCHE that teams like Milan still enjoy thanks to Berlusconi and his $$.

Its a risk but if Juve wins this season and money comes in they have a) saved money and will be in the financial GREEN meaning big signings next season.
100% agreed :)

I always said.if we r in financial crisis.we better sign no one. I don't want to end up like roma - lazio - parma.or even fiorentina. WE can be ok with this squad if the guys perform well.it's all about performance ;)

No doubt there is ONE MORE big signing on the horizon for Moggi. Unlike the loudmouthed Sensi and his declerations: "NEXT SEASON WE CAPTURE EUROPE WITH 5 NEW ACQUISITIONS" and Moratti who buys ANYONE Inter is linked to...(its like he reads the gossip columns for his next purchase) Moggi and Galliani are from the hush-hush backdoor school of transactions...i.e. don't let them know what your thinking.

Thats exactly right, so don't read too much into these Moggi press interviews. As in the case of signing of Capello, which took everybodys' breath away, you can never figure out what Moggi is thinking. While on the other hand, its easy to find out what Moratti's thinking. Hell, maybe he reads the rumors of Tribal Football and Channel4 to make his purchasing descisions.

Good post Rossonero,
:).

The long-term success of Milan and Juve is down to good management - ability to build team ethos, solid scouting, willingness to invest in right players and managing to balance books.
However I disagree with the way Moggi has managed this year. Juve's main source of revenue comparative to other teams such as Man U is reliance on TV and competition prize money called CL. This requires good performances on the pitch, which in turn requires a good team (More than a collection of good players). As far as I am concerned, Moggi's transfer policy should have been spend "wisely" rather than lets not spend it at all.
Mexes, Ferrari, would not have cost a fortune. There are many good players out there in the world IMO, and they dont cost that much due to prejudice and ignorance from big clubs. Arsenal does this too perfection - detecting quality players at young age (Mainly French).
In the end, I don't expect the team to win the league year in year out. But what I do expect and want is a team that is capable of competiting and it is the management's job to do so. Moggi simply hasnt done his job IMO, and while we are in the process of rebuilding he should be judged strictly on our performances on the pitch - So far I am sceptical.

Personally I like Moratti - I think he is a classy person based on the quotes from players.
His problem is not that he doesnt understand football or dont know how to appreciate talent because he knows who is talented and who isnt (Something I doubt Berlusconi is capable of doing) but he lacks patience, and capability of building collection of stars into a team. And partly he was simply unlucky - Who knows what Inter would have achieved had Ronaldo stayed healthy - Loosing to Milan in CL in a bizzare away goal rule - Throwing away title in Cuper's first season. Heck, I am beginning to feel that they are really cursed..:D.
Anyway, I do feel Inter is capable of sustaining Serie A challenge this year, and susprisingly enough it seems Morrati has learnt his lesson. Didnt spend to much cash thanks to generous offer from Chelsea (Roman and Massimo would make a good friend :D) and FAs. And he went for bargain buys such as Burdisso rather than overpaying hyped up European youngsters (Dalmat, Farinos comes into my mind). They also have a coach that he always liked and believed in. Beside, thanks to his lavish transfer policy of the past, he already has likes of Adraino, Cordova, Zanetti, Stankovic, Martins to build from. If Mancio can get the best out of Emre, Van der Meyde, Vieri, Toldo, Veron, Davids they are very dangerous IMO. I think they will be the main challenger to Milan this year.

i think morratti simply stick his money where his mouth is, like abramovich, which a fair style if u can afford it.

Moggi is often brilliant but just as annoying. id rather have him than not.

Moggi-Galliani are often cited by Interisti, Romanisti, Laziale, etc. as the mafia of Serie A...realistically the other teams are jealous because they manage to balance a strong team and a sound financial plan..
True, true. There's a lot of fiscal mismanagement out there, and I honestly wish it wasn't swept under the rug as much as it has been.

But, in Galliani's case, I've also long questioned whether being VP/CEO of AC Milan and President of Lega Calcio has inherent conflicts of interest. But perhaps that reflects a general Italian tolerance (or reluctant expectation) for these kinds of situations.

Being 15MM Euros in the red for a given season may not seem like a financial crisis to a lot of clubs, given their apparent lack of concern for balance sheets, but it should be.

Absolutely spot on! I am a fierce critic of Galliani of being the president of Lega Calcio and the conflict of interest was none more apparent in introducing new regulations with non-EU players. The regulation introduced last year is just plain damn stupid and should be scrapped. Firstly, I am always against disrimination towards certain countries in all industries beside sport. Anyway, European leagues should be ashamed of wanting global-marketing money and yet prohibit players from those areas in taking part in the league. But such regulation is present in all-nations and I guess I can live with it.
The more important problem IMO is that the Non-EU regulation in Italia penalizes the teams which previously supported and nurtured young Italian talents and giving unfair advantages to the teams that relies heavily on foreign talents. A fair rule would have been one in which enables team to have same number of non-EU or where teams can only field same number of the players on the pitch.
Of course setting the number as such that forcing some non-EU players to leave Italian league would have been unfairand harsh on them but surely Italian Federation could have set the future deadline in which they had to comply to the regulation which would have allowed smooth transition to fairer rule. As far as I am concerned, the current non-EU regulation favors Milan strongly Kaka, Sheva, Kaladaze, Dida, Simic, Kutuzov, Sarr to name a few in contrast to something like 5spots allocated to us. Of course, Gialliani adopted this rule knowing the fact that his team relies heavily on foreign players. Just as I hate Roman, Silvio and Galliani doesnt go too well in my books.

moggi is crazy, ignorant, stubborn, stupid, brilliant, smart, and most of all, he is a liar...

he has pulled some rabbits outta the hat, and other times he has done dealings which have made us pull out our hair.

lets just wait and see...winning 4-1 against a team who no one has heard of wont make him think we can do it against milan, real, roma, inter, arsenal, united etc...

he knows finances will better now that the team has qualified. This will get his lips wet and ink ready to put pen to paper.
