It's not the political parties that I am appalled at, but the people. How can democracy work with illilterate people? Bangladeshis voted for the party who are more vocal about their opponents mistakes and the party that would cause more trouble when not in power. Most of the people can't think or decide for themselves; they have to bribed to vote for some party. Most of the new voters voted 'No' ,as in none of the candidates- how stupid is that! Two years of wasted efforts by the expatriates trying to teach Bangladesh democracy.

But that is the case elsewhere as well.

Not necessarily with illiterate people, but still with people who lack the intelligance to understand a lot of the political arguments.

And only about 50% of the electorate vote in the UK, so they are basically rejecting all the candidates, too.
