I'm in some cave with dwarfs and I'm dying over and over again. Seems impossible to conquer in my low level (17). Don't even know why I am in here. Anyone been there and has some hints on what to do? And I picked up a lot of the dwarfs scrap metal and shit because I thought I'd meet some collector at some point. Anyone know if they are worth anything or can I throw 'em away? They weigh a lot so...

I was "sent" to Markarth, thrown into jail and after that I ran into a cave to fight a spider. After I killed the spider I found another cave inside the cave. Because there were so much dwarf stuff around there I figured that the guys I was killing was dwarfs as well. But after re-thinking this I guess they are just something else. They are however very annoying, I keep dying. I think I'm gonna head back and return later.

Yes I could lower the diff but that feels like cheating.

I am a high elf and I really don't know what to do to cause damage. I focused earlier on leveling flames, which sucked. Right now I use flames in my left hand and a sword in my right hand that is kind of poor. Don't remember exactly how much it does but maybe 13 dmg and enchanted with lightning. What should I do?

I have another two dumb questions.

(1) Scrolls in my inventory can only be used once then they are terminated, right?
(2) The books in my inventory that I have found, how do they work? Some have spells like using lightning for 60 seconds and so on. If I read the book will that spell only be available once for me and the book terminated?

Sometimes it's best to just leave certain areas and return once you re at a higher level, otherwise you'll just become frustrated with the game, it happened to me early on when I came across an enemy type that was much stronger and no tactics I employed would work.

Do you have any stones activated at present? There are three of them just before you enter Riverwood, (Thieves, Warrior & Mage) depending on which way you want to play the game you'll need to choose one of these as each will increase the speed with which you level up in that particular department i.e. if you have the warrior stone activated your two-handed and blocking will level up faster.

1: the scrolls, yes they are once off throw-away spells
2: if you have books which start with 'spell', they can be read and that particular perk will be unlocked and can be used continuously like your flames or what have you. Other books with high values can be read to level up other skills like smithing, light armour etc Once you've read them just sell em cause they've served their purpose.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much mate, that helped a lot! I will leave the area, the things there are too strong for me. I've activated a number of stones and the once I pokearoo for are mage. I suspected that mage would be more useful to my character (high elf).

Phew! Now I can use some books and easy some in my inventory. :)

No worries at all, there's so much content in the game it's hard to be aware of all if it. I got a free strategy guide from work which has helped a lot.

for anyone who hasn't yet done the first mission after joining the Stormcloaks, when you come to the end of the dungeon make sure to have a good look around the floor in that room, finding a serious mount of flawless diamonds, sapphires, rubies etc
