What's most upsetting is the hypocrisy. Most places with poor human rights are criticized, condemned and sometimes even sanctioned.

Not Dubai though, which is being treated the opposite.

Thats beyond predictable, but yeah, wouldnt hypocracy is the most upsetting, expected money shuts out reality.

I really cant pinpoint whats most upsetting (who am I kidding, its 2009, and they having ENSLAVING people right infront of the whole world), its all BEYOND horrible to even read, imagine living through THAT.

Arab or not, everyone doing that shit and mentionned in that article (everyone except the "rebel emirati, the severely victimized servant class and that one american woman), seriously I have the urge to kick their teeth in. Especially when reading some of those expats comments about the servants, and that beyond deranged emirati, sultan something (coming up with the same insanely indenial/delusional excuses as a certain poster here did last time dubai was discussed).

Cronios wrote that?
Worth the read, thats the least we can do for this commendable journalist that took the time to shine on this disgusting charade of inhuman ugliness, when everyone else just turns a blind eye and harps on fantastical experience this or that.

But this is why the likes of Halliburton moved to Dubai. They're all in cahoots.

People laugh at the idea of groups wanting to enslave the whole world, but when you read something like this, it becomes evident that there are these sick freaks out there.

Shameful absolutely shameful, we see this shit everyday in front of us, but like the journalist said we're trained not to look. Even our uni we have people that clean our mess after we eat or throw garbage on the ground. After a while you just stop noticing all that, it becomes normal everyday life.

Nothing in that article that isn't accurate, absolutely spot on. I applaud the journalist for having the courage to reveal what he did, but if it were an Arab journalist, things would have been different.

All true, I grew up in this shithole unfortunately too. Everything is fake, everything, people who you thought were your friends turn out to be fake as well. Fortunately, I grew up with the right people and we all know what's going on, since we were kids. It's also a common thing to make fun of Indians here, never have I seen such disgusting racism. Everytime I meet with my closest roaddogz, someone in the group always has to come out and say it, "Fuck Dubai", Every day, every year. We all agree and go out drinking.

The wrong people are making millions while the right people are getting fucked up and going into hardcore debt.. Actually, if all the Indians go on a strike, they'd occupy and take over Dubai. Sadly, most of them are illiterate and are slaves to construction companies.

I wanted that confirmation from people who know the city just in case the journalist was talking shit. It's now obvious that he's not.

Really, I'm far far from naive, and not much of I read suprised me (yeah read it all), but I cant stress enough how BEYOND disgusted I am, seriously angry of how insanely despicable it is...
:agree: That was pretty much my reaction too.

Nonsense. Dubai good and Islam too. Allah Akbar.

Bad things all from west be! Americans kill Arabs. We react. Is normal thing.
this has nothing to do with religion, gorilla. It has everything to do with man's greed ignoring all ethical and moral standards.

True, but still, it's not the same in other countries. We don't have a slave class for example.
Sure we do. People buy clothing, and cheap items made in China, India, Sri Lanka and other players no? companies like Gap, Nike, Starbucks..etc. still employ sweatshops and slave labour in other countries.

we still have problems of slave sex women and kids being smuggled all over the world. The drug lords that employ slaves to harvest crops.

directly or indirectly we contribute to slavery. And still we are not doing enough to stop it.

I'm not saying this to justify what's happening in Dubai, just arguing against your point.

Having lived in Kuwait, I know first hand of the disgusting ways these poor guest workers get treated.

who bother with him, the guy's admitted he's a troll

anyway, not to say that I am defending Dubai, I grew up in this country and everything that has been written is absolutely true, but these articles have started to surface when the recession has started to hit the UAE...before that, these same European expats were living the good life, cruising in their Porsche Cayennes and living in the million dollar condos...now it's all anti-Dubai...where was all this sympathy for the Asian expat workers before?

I'd actually go as far as saying the article has gone soft on whats happening here. Far worst cases are happening and just getting swept under the carpet.

@those that respond to the gorilla, why bother? its like Ahmed said the guy admitted he's a troll.

Isn't it funny though how you are all defending an opinion I put forward months ago? It's just.. odd, wouldn't you say? Because some of you, and you sure act as if you would have to know how things are in Dubai, said some very different words on this very forum back then..

Tenses mean squat to you apparently.

Oh, and I find it highly amusing how this is suddenly Europe's fault.

Btw, Seven gets "fighting or trolling" warnings almost everytime he's trolling, and i think it would be fair if the mods do the same everytime he's the insulted party.

Aren't you a mod? You could hand out warnings.

But you know full well all this isn't out of the blue. Its a result of a long time of provocations.
