accounts mean f*ck all though, like i said its been past down by words and mouth over the centuries, even if he did exist do you really believe all those miracles he performed? thats what i finder harder to beleive
But you're Jewish right? I mean, you believe in the coming of a Messiah, no?

Please enlighten me. Explain to me how this is any more rational than christian faith? Mind you, Jesus is nothing more but the christian Messiah. Thus, in essence, there's not that much difference between your beliefs and those of a christian.

Yes, that's what I mean. It's fairly certain christianity wasn't created for such a goal. The Romans, if anything, were wary of christians till the beginning of the fourth century and thus would never have formed a union with christians to spread a religion which was created to hate Jews. The hypothesis badass is putting forward is ludicrous to say the least.

What Jesus said is important to christians. Jesus himself matters less to most christians. Some believe he was a historical figure, others believe he wasn't. I'm sorry to say this mate, but you simply don't know what christianity is about nor do you know it's historical roots nor do you seem to have the slightest idea about the Roman Empire and its attitude towards religion.

It's not going to get ugly. Everyone just saw how little you know about these things.

like i said b4 discussing about religion always turns out ugly. what i believe and what you believe is different you may believe in jesus' and his miracles, i may not necessarily and have more skeptical views, at the end of the day nobody here is actually right, its all just hypothesis just put forward, just some may sound ludacrusly silly to you and i.

I'm slightly confused here. What are you trying to demonstrate?
If it's any help, I wrote the hypothesis badass is putting forward down:

'The Romans, who emphatically persecuted christians at the time, have helped christianity, which is only an excuse to hate Jews, to rise because both Romans and christians hated Jews.'

asking me about the comming of the messiah is pointless, i dont believe everything in the jewish faith like kosher, only really that there's 1 god, as for the jesus business, again im skeptical, he may or may have not existed or was the actual son of god, unlike the jews who believe that he wasnt the messiah or the son of god.

It's not about believing. I don't believe in Jesus. I'm not christian.

What you need to do is stop degrading facts to maybes. Your hypothesis, that christianity was created as an excuse to hate Jews, is dead wrong. That's what I've been proving you all day.

And I did a fairly good job at it as well, I'd like to believe. I, even though I am not christian, am appalled by what you said anyway. Sure, history has been tough on Jews, I'm not going to say otherwise. But degrading an entire religion like that is pretty damn awful and coming from me, that means a lot.

So you don't really buy all that Jewish crap, but you were converted and became Jew by choice?

Now this I got to see.

I love the way you make any person look like an utter idiot
Well, badass is making it pretty easy :D.

again i think you've exaggerated my points a little too much, what im saying is that theres a chance that after christianity was accepted that perhaps the books were re written to persecute the jews and to blame them for the death of jesus, hence the hatred.

...The evidence exists in earlier copies of the works that made up the Bible. They show no evidence of such tampering, so this would appear to be idle speculation.

But the core of the Bible was written 300 years BEFORE christianity was accepted.

The books were used in the Middle Ages to kill Jews. That I do agree with. But that doesn't even come close to what you're saying.

Isn't the coming of the messiah one of the most important beliefs in the Jewish religion ? it is also mentioned in the Bible by the way .

I'm sorry my friend but another thing about religion is you can't fool around and play with it , you can't pick what you like and believe it and what you don't like , well , not believe it . If you are Jewish then you believe everything the Jewish religion states and not what you feel is reasonable .

People might as well just make their own religion otherwise.

Yea, but you can also be a religion and not totally follow all of the principles.
But you can't not follow the main principle. That's like Andy saying he's catholic but doesn't want to follow the Pope.

no again you're exaggerating, im simply saying that things like the kosher laws were what i believe more of a man made than what i believe god said, sure i still believe in the 10 commandments, the 1 god, and pretty much everything else. but then thats what everyone is like, there are those who ACTUALLY follow and believe everything, and there are those who pick what they want to believe and add their own influences.

That could be taken very much out of context!! :eyebrows:
:D, my bad. But if this were the point badass was trying to make, he had been very reasonable. Now he's being ridiculous and IMO quite offensive towards christians.

Do you or do you not believe in the coming of the Messiah? Do you believe God dictated the 10 commandments to Moses?

There's a difference between not being a practical (spelling anyone, I mean someone who doesn't follow every rule) Jew or not being a Jew at all. If you don't believe in the coming of the Messiah, you're not a Jew.

I do recall various agressive incidents involving Mohammed and the lack of tolerance being described in the Koran..
