There is Real Sociedad, Atletico Bilbao, Alaves etc that add spice to the primera. The bad thing is they are 20 teams there so you always have this as you put it "mediocre" teams around. The real bad thing in Spain is there are only 2 really big teams. Valencia has improved alot but still cant hold on to its star players. Deportivo is doing its best with its limited clout. The return of Atletico Madrid and the reduction of teams from 20 to 18 will make this league great.

Well the same can be said of Serie A where teams like Roma , Parma and lazio have overspent to compete with the likes of Juve, Inter and Milan, and see where it has gotten them, in debt

If we are talking about quality of football, I still maintain that spanish league is superior as apart from the usual suspects of Real madrid barcelona, Valencia and Depor , there is Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Mallorca and now the added mix of Real Soceildad while in serieA you have more technical and safe football unlike liga its one touch football at its very best

which is more exciting, a Barca-Lazio match or Milan-Celta Vigo/real sociedad/Bilbao/Atletico madrid whatever you say. Thats why i said the italian league is weaker this year(forget th CL results) than it was last year or 2 years ago. Spainish league is stronger now than it was last year.
