Well I think Risa's right. They can recruit the player the D has investigated and trusts. The D should not contact anyone unless he's found out about the BG.
I doubt they recruited the first one who was investigated. Maybe the 2nd but not the first.

But then again the first one could be ALC (who's dead)

If the D has investigated C's till now and he's not in-contact with them then this is bad.
Are you completely bananas? The D better not contact anyone except the BG. The Gs can see who he investigates and what the role is. They'll try to get an investigated person, special role or not, doesn't matter. If the D contacted the investigated person the Gs know his name and he's dead.

They can't specifically choose who to recruit, they have to give three names to the narrator. They're surely not going to go for recruitment at this stage though.
Sure? What if the lawyer was investigated on day one, they could try to get that one. Or they are smarter and wait till day 3 and hope for 3 investigated Cs or even special roles and give all three names to get a confirmed C or a special role on their sides.
