Contrasting results for the U21 and U19 sides:

That Germany game was played way above friendly tempo, and again more red cards, the U21 seem to get them every game. But definitely looked like a typical U21 game with how the goals went in, very random. Cancellari does look like he will be a good player.

The U19 beat Hungary 7-2, after beating them 3-0 a few days ago. Our Hasa scored two in the first game and Mancini got two today.
That u19 team seems to have some talents. Mancini is ours isn't he?

I don't think we have a thread for the U20, so I'll post here.

The kids qualified for the world cup and playing it right now.

Passed the groups beating Brazil 3-2, last night beat England 2-1 and are on to the quarter finals against Colombia. I haven't caught a full match yet, just highlights. A lot of talented players playing well and scoring very nice goals like Baldanzi's against England.

Casadei is the tournament's top scorer so far with 5 in 4 games. He is a mezzala, sold by Inter to Chelsea, where he started in their youth teams and then moved on loan to play in the Championship. Baldanzi is another great one, trequartista of Empoli, already confirmed in Serie A. Then there are Pafundi, Mancini's wonderkid from Udinese that he called to the senior team. Ambrosino and (the third brother) Esposito in attack. I don't know the defenders well, just that Turicchia, the left back, is ours.

How has Turicchia been doing?

Wondering why we’ve never showed interest in Pafundi

Watching the game, Turicchia is pretty good. Has been solid on defense and made deep runs with good combinations. Some overshot crosses. I don't know much about him from Juve. At this level he is good, seems well rounded.

The defense of this team is very good. Colombia moves the ball well, has talent and play as a team, yet they are cut off by the backline very well.

The midfield on the other hand gives the ball away too easily. They all seem quite good on the ball, but less so off the ball. A lot of talent trying to show off skills.

It means that in attack they are deadly which is as rare for Italy as it is nice to see. All these kids have some serious close control and an eye for chances. Casadei and Baldanzi continue to dominate and scored one each. Ambrosino has good movement and link up skills. Very technical striker.

Lol as I wrote that the second half started and Baldanzi threaded through the defense to assist Esposito who scored with a back heel. Beautiful.

Then they immediately conceded a first to Colombia.

If they don't get too over confident this should be comfortable and this team has everything to be champions.

We play the winner of Korea and Nigeria. Nigeria beat us in the group stages so that should be the most difficult team in the tournament. They also beat Argentina, but lost against Brazil, there will be small margins.

There's a good chance that Nigeria have overage players, as it's so endemic in their football. Until they get to grips with it I'm always going to think that, so I can't take their youth teams seriously. So yes, they will be a dangerous team.

They also have more players to choose from. When they became a hit at the 1994 World Cup, Nigeria had a population of 105M. Now they have 215M people living there, mostly young folks. With football being a very popular sport, Nigeria's bound to build an excellent team at one point.

Their 1994 team is still comfortably the peak of their national team, however, nearly 30 years later. I'm sure there are several reasons for that, but in terms of depth they certainly have a lot of choice.

WC semi finals tonight, i'll be watching

If Turicchia delivers im positive that he might get a chance next year
Turicchia was good in the end. Assisted Casadei and created problems on the left side. Speaking of the left side, I liked Giovane a lot, wasn't familiar with him before the tournament.

The team attacks with the quick passing reminiscent of Mancini's euro win but more centrally through Baldanzi. Casadei with a 7th goal, Pafundi with a goal that shows the technique of a talent.

Casadei's form is mad. Maybe playing in the Championship did a world of good for his level or maybe this was always happening with his talent. I hope Chelsea creates a good path for him. If he continues to grow he will be the one to push Barella on his role.

marotta really owns the league. what a masterpiece of shit, grandmaster marotta is.

selling zaniolo and casadei for peanuts, that is how you build the future.
robert-de-niro-finger-wag.gif

zaniolo was sold in july 2018, when marotta was probably busy trying to stop the ronaldo purchase at juventus

They sold Casadei for 18+2M, he was a youth palyer that is some serious money. Almost every club would sell him, he is not proven yet.
imagine juventus selling a fully unknown u19 player for 20m. we'd face a relegation to serie d

you are right about zaniolo. but you must admit that deal is totally what he would do.

casadei is apparently not that unknown sice chelsea bought him and he already worth twice as much.

so marotta didn't sell zaniolo, but fuck him for zaniolo regardless, and also fuck marotta because of the chelsea tax (and let's ignore the potential career path for casadei in italy: inda u19 -> inda u21 -> pergolettese -> bari -> empoli -> lazio; guy can thank marotta his career)

turk, you're a treasure

so he would have gone to pergolettese if marotta didn't sell him for peanuts. how does that work? guy is a midfielder and scored 15 goals in 30 games for primavera. he could have easily replace likes of bozovic, gagliardini and asllani.
