:weee: I loved the A-team as a kid. I had the pleasure of meeting Dirk Benedict (Face) twice in the last three years. He was brought over to Ireland as a guest of the Law Society (debating and piss-ups, their speciality) and he spoke at length about the A-team, Battlestar Galactica (he was the original Starbuck), dating a Charlie's Angel, his battle with cancer, bringing up his two kids as a lone parent, his dislike of smoking bans and more. Some very funny stories, mostly involving Mr T.

Just to recount a couple, he said that they'd have the long scenes in the van, where everyone would be talking, and at the end of the scene, BA would have one line. They'd reach that point, and there'd be a silence. Then, "Aw, fellas, did I have a line? I'm sorry fellas, I told those damn writers not to give me so many damn lines... I meant to learn my lines, fellas, really I did, but I had them on my table last night and the window was open..."

Aparantly, the guy could talk for hours. He'd lounge around with Benedict and Dwight Schultz (Murdock - who presents a radio show now, and is a bit crazy after all) between takes, talking non stop. They'd leave, go back on set to film, or for makeup or to eat, or whatever, and he'd keep going, talking at a rate of knots to anyone who'd listen.

There was a trailer on the set where some of the crew showed pornos to pass the time, and Benedict recalled a few female costars asking about the trailer everyone seemed to be going into between takes. Benedict and Schultz would tell them it was nothing interesting, evade the question. Mr T would say, "Come on girl, I'll show you..."

The first time Benedict was in Ireland, he asked the audience if we were even old enough to have seen the A-team. Of course, we weren't exactly, but the repeats had been around for much of our childhood, so this lecture theatre, packed to the gills with maybe 700 people just stood up en masse and started singing the theme tune! Good times.

Anyway, the A-team aside, I always loved the Airwolf theme tune, but I found the programme too repetitive. I was reminded of it years later by the Simpsons, with Night Boat (or something), "Look David, there's a stream", and Lisa shouts "There's always a stream, or an inlet, or a river. This programme sucks."

Knightrider I never got into either. Sure, Kit tweaked my fledgling engineer's imagination, but I never identified with David Knight.

McGuyver anyone?
Didn't see much of it. In retrospect, some of it very funny. Anyone see the McGuyver/Mastercard superbowl ad?

Anything with Chuck Norris
Delta Force is one of the funniest crap action films I've seen that didn't star Schwarzenegger, and Walker Texas Ranger was enjoyable rubbish.

I miss 80s TV.

H.M.? .....Murdoch's real name in the show was Captain H.M Murdoch...so, apart from the nick name 'Howling Mad', what did H.M actually stand for anyone?
From wikipedia, "Interestingly, unlike B.A., the initials H.M. were never explained in terms of what Murdock's actual first and middle name were, and the nickname "Howlin' Mad" were simply attributed to them (although the "H" is said to stand for "Hector")."
