Been going through the whole story, and it brings to mind what someone once told me... in the Western world nowadays, they tend to 'over-treat' people.

I think Mrs. Schiavo should have died a long time ago. She's been on life support for 15 years. I'd hate to live like that. Her parents are just being selfish (as her husband I must say), but this is a case of choosing the lesser evil.

And I think killing her is by far the lesser evil.

What y'all think?

    Actually, her husband is her legal guardian so he gets to decide.

    But IMO the hubby's a twat.

    He's fvcking some other female and coming across with a holier than thou attitude.
    Granted I understand that he wants to put her out of the situation which IMO's desperate, but he lost some of those rights when he decided to be unfaithful.

    On the part of the parents, there's some understanding... No parent wants to bury his child.

    The hubby should have wairted a bit until her parents died before taking the plunge.

    Its a shitty situation...

    I really dont know what, or who is right...

    I dont think starving the body to death is the humane way of doing this.

    They should have given her a lethal injection, and ended it quickly

    True, but he should just tell the truth that he's tired of the burden and stop painting a picture of a saddened, caring hubby.

    Thats a very judgemental statement.... How do you know for sure he isnt.... Jus cause hes having a physical relationship with someone else doesnt mean he no longer loves or cares for his wife.

    Its a dificult situation that unless you were confronted with i dont think you have any idea how you would react...

    I just think he should have consulted more widely. Granted the final decision's his, and God knows I'd probably do the same thing, but he shouldn't be so forceful as there are other people who love her as much as he claims to.

    And besides, he's a Catholic, and the vows he took clearly state in sickness and in health, till death do us part.

    Maybe I'm using meself to judge, but I have not broken a vow for as long as I can remember, and I find it difficult to understand why other people do.

    He didn't wait for her to die before breaking his vows. He put the cart before the horse, and IMO, when he did that, he lost the right to be the sole custodian of her fate.

    I totally agree. This has become a complete circus in the United States now, with so much controversy surrounding only one dying person. I think Terri's parents are rather selfish to keep her alive like this, as I know for myself that I would rather just pass away than be kept alive like Terri has been, amidst so much controversy and suffering. Her parents are only prolonging the misery for themselves and everybody else involved in the case. No matter how you look at Terri Schiavo is brain dead, and nothing can be done to bring her "back to life."

    I just hope she can have a peaceful death and that nobody suffers from those hypocritical activists out there who will kill in the name of Terri for those who are on their death beds already.

    Have you ever thought that Terri herself may want to continue living like this? This is basically murder, anyway you look at it. As for the husband claiming Terri told him once she'd never want to live like that, I don't think he's very trustworthy as he didn't bring that up for 7 years. All of a sudden after he wins that malpractice case, he remembers that statement. How convenient.
