He was never a possibility. I don't know why people thought we had a chance and are getting pissed at the Iturbe deal.

Sanchez is going to Arsenal for 38M for 4 years at 6.3M/yr (12.6M/yr gross) = 88.4M
Iturbe will cost about 28M for 5 years at 1.5M/yr (3M/yr gross) = 43M

Iturbe is half the price and not to mention he's 21 and in 5 years he'll only be 26 which means we would still be able to sell him for a good price if he succeeds here.

Does anybody know what transfer budget Arsenal have this year? Everybody here seems to agree that they are ok covered in Sanchez position(s) and have many other positions they need to upgrade, so why spend 40m on Sanchez? Unless they have a 100m budget or something like that...

Not sure about budget but Arsenal had about 150 million euros in cash reserves last year, probably a lot more now with new puma, emirates deals and new tv money.

Guillem Balague is saying Sanchez will cost 35 million euros up front
"All agreed for Alexis. Will be anounced soon, possibly tomorrow.Arsenal will pay FCB £27.5 plus £2.3 for objectives. 4 years plus 1 optional"

but you can't compare them right?..
People need to stop bitching about Sanchez being the better player when know one knows shit about how Iturbe might step it up in a big team. He might very well explode here next year and all of these pissbag whiners will show their hypocrisy.

Sanchez 38m + 34.3m (6m + 43% tax wages 4 years) = 72.3m

Iturbe 25m + 10.9m (1.5m + 45% tax wages 5 years) = 35.9m
Morata 22m + 16m (2.2m + 45% tax wages 5 years) = 38m

Sanchez = 72.3m 4 years
Iturbe + Morata = 73.9m 5 years

Yes it's one extra year but we could definitely expect wage increases for Iturbe and/or Morata within 2-3 years. Sanchez would be unlikely to get increased wages considering our wage structure and maybe if the reports (he wanted to come to Juve) were true he might've signed for Juve for less...

Now obviously one difference might be that Arsenal could pay in less installments and/or quicker which we might not be able to.

The club might also think if we are spending so much it is better to diversify between 2 players but personally I think signing two unproven players for such large fees is a much larger risk than an already well proven player in Sanchez.

Arsenal & Barca have an agreement but the player doesn't, we are still his first choice

His agent will be back in Italy today,

The only chance we have of getting him now is if we sell (Vidal)

Iturbe's performance at 20 is much much better than Sanchez at 20 for what that is worth.

The deal is nearly done to Arsenal. Close the thread and hide it in the basement behind the Aguero, Dzeko and Jovetic threads.
