Del Piero still does well because our team plays at his speed at times which is not a quick pace and is not the greatest thing for our team overall. We tend to play for him a bit at times so his numbers are good but overall our team is not what it could be.

It's time to move on in my opinion with Giovinco, Diego and Lavezzi (if we get him). Those are 3 players that play the game at a different speed than Alex and we should let them play it for the betterment of the team.
I disagree. Giovinco will be played as an alternative to Ale but I dont think we should take DP's starting spot away. Pace wise he is as fast as he was a few years ago given the extra sprint training he has been doing and he is scoring more goals for Juve now than he ever has. There is no need to change. The midfield is extremely strong and can let us dominate with Momo, Marchisio, Zanetti, Poulsen, Camo and possibly D'Agostino all fighting for a place.

Del Piero gives us touch and quality up front that can not be matched by other players. When we get Diego in the team with him, they will feed off each other's prescence. Alex will draw players to him and diego will score goals and Vice versa. Giovinco will have his playing time more and more but it would be foolish to just stop with Del Piero or think we can just move on from him.

It is foolish to just move on from him but I think it's more foolish to continue pinning our hopes on him as our best player. He will find tons of time next year but he can't be asked to start every game and he can't be asked to carry us offensively.

Actually maybe you are right that Diego can take the pressure off him but I think the key to our team is that we change pace and play more uptempo with more width in attack. Maybe Diego can provide that so I will wait and see how Del Piero can adjust to Diego's arrival. He's smart and determined so it's possible that he can adapt to a different style of game then these past couple years but we have to make sure that we let Diego play his style of game before Alex in my opinion.

The team should be build around Diego in my opinion. It's time to move away from the slow style of football that won't get us any where in the CL. Our style of football is so predictable, we need a real technician that is going to change the tactics and formation according to the game. I'm sick of watching this robotic
4-2-2-2 formation, I had enough of it.

So Del Piero, our top goal scorer and leading assist man of the last 2 seasons, the leader of the team that inspires the team is suddenly to be benched?

I have not heard one good reason why we should bench him. Lack of speed or not, the guy is our most dangerous forward. Did you guys forget how he single handedly humiliated teams like Inter of last season? what about Madrid this season? What about the fact that we passed group stages of CL thanks to Del Piero's great goals?

I find it silly when people say we should move on...move on why? Is Del Piero not scoring goals? Is he not assisting? You only move on when the player is not performing. With Diego in our team next season, Del Piero will have less pressure on him to try and do everything by himself, and you'll see a much more efficient Del Piero because he will get to do his own thing, while Diego does the creating from the midfield.

Yesiree Lion. ADP is going to have to miss a few of the games against lesser opponents (to keep him fresh), but he's clearly still gotta be first choice when it matters.

Oh I agree. No player is ever gonna be able play a long string of games without being physically drained (unless you're 31 year old Nedved or your name is Frank Lampard)

but as you said, for majority of the games, especially the important ones, he's got to be there (as long as he is performing well)

First i would say that we have now a new ''great'' Del piero and if u think that he is the same like always then u need to go to check up.... old 'the greatest'' Del piero was the best of the best in the world even better than Messi now.... he was like a mad man ( fuck i would pay to see him young again ) anyway the age guys he lost stamina speed became weaker this happens for every human he isn't God but of course he still got that magic and he is the best of his age of course... i think we should move on for a better team to challenge for trophies first its about JUVE not bout Del piero only... build the team around young players not him. he isn't getting any younger ''sad but true'' so i wouldn't mind to see our next front line without him..... but he can be the super sub or even starter for some matches he won't set on the bench just like that...

i think it's time to set back and watch who will be the next great thing??? Giovinco

!!!! GRANDE DEL PIERO !!!!

I would love to see Gio, Del Piero, and Diego all playing at the same time. I don't think it's going to happen tho, and I don't even know if it is possible.

In any case, and as much as I love Gio and would love to see him starting, I don't see him displacing Del Piero or Diego just yet. The only way the 3 can co-exist is if we play 4-2-3-1 with Del Piero on the right, Gio on the left, and Diego in the center of that 3. I don't think that is going to happen, but Gio will surely get more playing time next season in a rotation with DP and Diego. I think he will be satisfied with that role, going from a peripheral figure to becoming a very important sub who can change the outcome of games. Of course he should start in some Serie A, Coppa Italia, and CL games too.

Giovinco just got to play 1/3 of what Del Piero did this season and he ended up with 8 assists. If we give Giovinco the whole season and with the help of Diego these two guys can easily fill the gap Del Pieros leaves behind.

Speed of mind is more important than speed of movement.
I remember Roberto Mancini said that about Martins before he sold him. He knew Oba was a good player but could not be a top player. He said "His feet are quicker than his mind"

Look at Zidane. He was so slow he could not even make the Marseille youth team because they said he could never be a pro cuz he was too slow..

The new team will be built around Diego because he is young, brilliant and can dictate the attack. But Alex is still vital and will continue to be a leader for Juventus.
