I know I'm repeating myself, but we wont see much of 4-3-3 because:
- Ranieri tried it last year and he dropped the idea to play a flat 4-4-2
- DP doesnt like to play as a winger, he wont agree to anything but a SS role
- Both Nedved and Camo prefer the winger role than AMF, though both can be great at that role, and I dont think Ranieri will bench Nedved and Camo for Gio
-Ranieri doesn't want an AMF, that's why he rejected VDV
-Signing Amauri wont change Ranieri's tactics, last year we had Iaquinta and he was rarely used in a 4-3-3 formation
-Our Fullbacks are poor:
Offensively: so they wont produce enough crosses as I cant see DP and Amauri handle crossing balls for Trez
Defensively: so they need both RW and LW to help in defense, even with the presence of 2 DMs (Camo and Nedved had some extra-defensive rolls last year)

Nothing changed since last year, excellent attack, many DMs, no AMs, excellent wingers, weak defense and unreliable fullbacks.
Well Ranieri said he could use both systems this year again. Seeing how we have 4 very good strikers I think we will use 433 on occasion to keep them satisfied. Also I don't see Nedved and Camo playing every game due to tiredness or injury so in the games when we dont have them I could see the 433 being a good option.

We have the players to make it work.

Didoz, I think that the arrival of Poulsen, Amauri and Giovinco, coupled with the fact that Pavel Nedved is 36 years young, certainly means that we'll see more 4-3-3 (or 4-3-1-2) then last year (4-4-2 will likely still be Ranieri's favorite). Del Piero is no spring chicken himself, so he'll sit more games than usual - he also may play occasionally as a trequartista - we're going to need someone to help link the mids to the attack, given our relative lack of creativity amongst the midfield ranks. I believe that a primary reason why Van Der Vaart wasn't purchased was because 1: Ranieri and the board were infatuated with Amauri and 2: he would have to play if he was bought (As one would expect any huge talent to... also, to justify the $ spent), which would mean that Giovinco would be seeing considerably more bench time, for the indefinite future. Not that he'll be our saviour (although I am expecting big things), but I really believe management want to give Seba the chance to be a reference point on our team for many years to come. You're right, our defense is inconsistent (also somewhat underrated...), but give the new arrivals a chance - obviously, their play will determine how flexible our tactics can be. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Mellberg might even play some RB and De Ceglie could be quite solid ... and who knows what Knezevic will bring to the table (or if he'll play at all)? Time will tell... but it's quite possible with the arrival of Poulsen and a moderate upgrade to the FB's, that we won't need wide mids to track back as often, or as deep as they had to last year. I also believe that we actually have 3 high quality (Ned, Camo, Gio) and 1 relatively solid, (Marchionni - if he can stay healthy, and isn't sold), potential AM's, if we should so choose to play them in advanced positions. Anyways, I think that anytime 7 new players arrive (8 with Chimenti), the complexion of the team has to change some. It's going to take quite a while to see how this all shakes out. Time to get rid of some of our Midfielders already...

Last season Ranieri had Iaquinta who was a new signing, and Palla who can fit as a wide striker in 4-3-3, and Ranieri didn't care to keep them satisfied, anyways I hope you guys are right and Ranieri uses 4-3-3 this season more often, as I'm not a fan of the flat 4-4-2 especially with 2 DMs, I also don't prefer DP as a trequartista, he'll be good but slow, I prefer Camo or Gio

and Rollie .... I dont thinks Ranieri rejected VDV for Gio's sake, any manager cares to win, if we wanted VDV he wouldn't sacrifice him for Gio's future sake

Anyways whether 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, I just hope Ranieri knows what he's doing

That's cool DiDoz - and I'm not saying that Gio would be the sole reason why VDV isn't here... all the same, I feel as though already having a blossoming talent in virtually the same position, who is loved by all the fans (before he even really sets foot on the pitch), who is a product of our youth system, who is a native of Turin, who requires far less salary and who fits with the current plan of building the 'new' Juventus from within, has some influence on this decision. I'm in the camp who believes that it's only a matter of time before Giovinco becomes a very special player. Given Ranieri's preferred tactics, I just don't think there would be space for the diminutive Giovinco and VDV in his lineup at the same time (especially given our current D)... they both have to be played so far forward. Anyways, my opinion is entirely based around my perception of Ranieri's tactical preferences... which could easily be wrong...

If I remember correct Tiago sucked in the straight 4-4-2. I would actually like to see us trying 4-3-3 but guess Ranieri wants Gio to be back before trying. It's a shame our youngsters are with the olympic team because they really could've needed the geling. Also one thing that was confirmed in the Dortmund match is that Sali absolutely sucks at lb.

a 4-3-3 could work like this:

Option 1

Option 2

I like the second one better, as I think it's more tactically sound and usable. But in all honesty I think the players and squad we have a more cut out for the typical Juve 4-4-2.

option 2 is better the mifield is packed with fighter on nedved camo and Momo. Plus I couldn't see a 4-3-3 working with both trez and amauri, you'd need speed and that's where iaquinta comes in. well thought out
