I like Grygera a lot more, he's much smarter than Zebina. Zebina is the type of player that could give away a penalty any second. I don't like his attacking style either, he is faster than Grygera but he can't cross for shit.

Grygera is more solid defensively, his only problem is that he doesn't go forward as often as you would like but when he does, he is always a dangerous threat and can get some very dangerous balls into the penalty area with impressive precision.

He played well in the Euros too imo.

Lippi- style?

It's not unlike his midfield.

Camoranesi Tacchinardi Davids
___________Nedved

Camoranesi = Camoranesi ( i'd argue that the current Camo is better than the one under Lippi)

Poulsen and Zanetti are like Tacchinardi. Actually they are much better and have more depth to their game, well Zanetti at least.

Davids had more technique than Sissoko, but Sissoko has a bigger playing field and has more drive. They play similar roles though.

Giovinco as playmaker, opposed to Nedved.

Of course it's not the same, but it has quite some similarities. Apart from Lippi's midfielders complementing eachother very well and his Nedved being stellar, I dont know if the new midfield is neceassarily inferiour.

It's nothing like it at all just because of the fact that Sissoko doesn't have the capability to be a menace on the left side of the pitch when he has the ball. It won't work as well unless Giovinco can cut down the slack.

Not the same sort of midfield whatsoever but I wouldn't mind seeing it in play, which we wont most likely.

You manage to find one difference(Davids' work down the left was extra anyway, he wasn't on the pitch for that at all), and the formation is nothing like it?

Right..

It's different for numerous reasons. That's why I said it.

Tacchinardi didn't have the passing capability of Zanetti, Nedved was not as creative as Giovinco, Davids was a million times better than Sissoko with the ball (it's not even close) and the midfield will not work the same way as the predecessor.

It's nowhere near the same midfield, Dom. Just the way it would work would be totally different.

Nedved I would say isn't a creative player if we're talking about playmakers. He's efficient, and damn good at making the right plays happen.

But when we have the ball, the midfield you're discussing isn't the same whatsoever. Giovinco doesn't run like a Nedved and Sissoko can barely do anything when he has the ball.

Comparing that midfield to the Davids and Lippi midfield is almost an insult to that midfield (at least at this point, hopefully it will turn out better if we even field it).

I guess to some extent, it could compare to Lippi's midfield style. Although it wasn't what I intended to be honest as the players we had then are completey different to the ones now. I think our midfield now is much more creative with Zanetti being a better distributor than Tacchi, Camo being a lot more developed than his old self, and Giovinco, who is far more creative than Nedved.

I think it coud work but like Andy said, I doubt Ranieri would opt to it anyway.
