this looks really good. And here we would have clear substitutions for almost any player - Legro for any CB, Grygera for Caceres, Melo for Momo, De Ceglie - Gio or Grosso, Del Piero - Diego, while Trez or Amauri - Iaquinta. And if Gio will appear as able to play also RMF it would be

The only way we could play such a formation without letting in more goals than Genoa would be if we, that's right, played possession football.

4-4-2 diamond with wide players is not possession football.

its what i would play, with marchisio covering giovinco's side and grosso who are less likely to defend and sissoko (or melo) just mopping up it could work.

You won't find too many traditional registas out there. I like Guarente, but haven't seen him play for a while.

I say we put Marchisio there.

A cheap Ledesma would be alright if we couldn't find anybody else.

Cigarini and Pizzaro might be possible. Moutinho can also play as a deeper playmaker, regista sort of role.

Hernanes from Sao Paulo might be a proper gamble.

Not too many to choose from.
