Back in the day if we needed a starter defender we used to sign the best defenders that weren't already at Milan or Inter. I suppose the signing of Bremer was the last equivalent. Current equivalent would be Scalvini, perhaps. Now we have to compete with teams like Newcastle for these sort of players.
